According to War Thunder on VK, 85% of people didn't participate in War Thunder enough to even get the IL-2

World War mode is wasted potential. I always imagined a mode where historically accurate battles in historically accurate locations could be carried out. Instead of the air RB slugfest where 2 sides made up of random factions fight in a team deathmatch, you could have a bomber escort mission over Germany, or a huge tank battle on the eastern front. Not necessarily reenactments of specific battles, but rather battle types that actually would have taken place, with realistic location, teams, and objective. It would be continuously operating with a variety of options, rather than only turning on like twice a year and spending the rest just dead. Instead it just became the new way Gaijin does prize tournaments that I and most others never really cared for.

What I imagined world war mode being actually ended up being closer to what Enduring Confrontation became. Unfortunately, Gaijin has mostly neglected enduring confrontation outside of simulator battles, which I enjoy but am not always in the mood for.

And you know that it is a waste of resources how?  Got the detailed breakdown of everything including the effects of Gaijin's bottom line do you?

Do you know much did they get from people who BOUGHT the prizes??

No ...   didn't think so.

Gaijin will decide whether it is a waste of resources - not some half informed person who has always hated the mode from the get go.

BTW - 15% of people WHO ANSWERED THAT POLL is not actually representative of anything except the people who answered that poll!

They've come up with more unique game modes, modified more maps, and set up more scenarios in WWM than the other game modes combined.  I'm comfortable with my assessment.

Any game mode that requires vehicle rewards to get people to play it, is a bad game mode.

Try a WWM without vehicle rewards.  See even LESS people play it ...

It's on War Thunder's official VK site, and had over 3,300 respondents.  WWM is awful.  Give up defending it.

Which would only represent tiny portion of the Russian Player base. Since VK is a Russian social media site like facebook.  Even during US prime times lately, there are generally over 40k active people on at the least.  Considering the Russian player base is much larger than the US player base, that 3300 people would represent less than 1% of people who actively play the game daily.  Thats not counting the hundreds of thousands that are more casual and don't play every day.

Note, that I'm just going by what I observe for numbers when I'm online, not by official Gaijin numbers.

sure, but it's easily large enough to be a representative sample.

no - it is completely not - for starters it is a Russian language site. It is also solely users of that site.

so it can be said to be a large sample of users of that site - nothing more - and saying it is something more knowing that it is not is dishonest.

World War Mode is a waste of resources.  Please quit wasting time on it and focus on fixing Naval or Helo EC instead.

I remember when beta closed ships, this reminds me of many of those days, what happened in the end? They did exactly what they said they would play without listening to the community. The wwm goes the same way.
It is appreciated that there are people like you who still care, but I see it the same as ships ........

Im sorry for my English :salute:

That goes for any event. No reward = hardly any one will play.

But WWM still needs A LOT of work. Was extremely unbalance. At least on Chinese Farm.

And "few" people might have taken part of wwm s3. Because they did not have any of the vehicles.

Or they only had the crap vehicles. So there was no reason to take part of wwm. Since they would not have any chance of doing any.

I didn't play because I didn't want a Turkish tank, and because I don't want to be part of a squadron to do the achievements faster.

I don't know if it's wasted potential, but I certainly don't want to see a historical game mode because I remember historical scenarios in this game well enough to remember that they were incredibly unbalanced.

If you had the top vehicles. You could do the tasks within 1-2 hours of Solo play. Just like any Task style events.

I did 4 stars Solo. The rest with my squad. Average time was ~1H 30min.

Did them with my MiG-21SMT. Air domination. Could prob have done the task quicker.

If i hadn't F up a few times :)

Damn, I figured it was harder than that but didn't really look into it. I should have done it any way, considering how much that tank is selling for on the Marketplace.

If they want money, they could just make them as ordinary premium vehicles like the countless other ones. That in itself is not a reason to have World War mode.

Naval or Heli EC however are modes that are every day business. Those should work properly and not be a poorly balanced buggy mess.

Only commanders and some players from the same team can sell the vehicle, since they received the ticket, normal players directly received the vehicle with no option.
If Im wrong please have someone correct me.I understood it like this.

Ahh so they created an even greater artificial scarcity to jack up prices. That's the Gaijin we know and love.

i just want to be fully honest here, people should stop asking for fully historical battles involving accurate numbers of vehicles on each side, they tried this somewhat in chronicles battles and people did not like it at all, why do you think they stopped it. The idea people blindly gained of what they thought WWM would be is more of a fantasy than anything.

Its just not possible to make fully historical maps for every single location in WWM and then expect them to be polished and balanced, same for the vehicles, you cant have historical values and then expect it to be fun and balanced. Because history is not designed to be balanced.

What's dishonest is saying WWM is good for the community as a whole.

WWM is a different game style.  Not at all like most events.  My point is that if the game mode was fun/interesting, like Naval EC, people would play it without prizes.

It should be terrible in any game, to be honest, because history is unbalanced. If you're going in with mindset that you're recreating history instead of trying to win in your 15 other kruppstahl Tiger II's or the P-51 you saw in Red Tails, then you can enjoy it. But it makes for terrible balanced gameplay.

This is what gonna what this topic if gonna get replied by the Gaijin team:

"This was a feature that was highly requested by the community..."

"We are currently looking at the community feedback to improve this..."

The community somewhat appreciate the effort you guys put into this kind of event, but in the end it got buggy, tiresome and repetitive, just look at the prices of the event vehicles on the trade.gaijin.net  245$ for the M60 and $45 for the IL-2.

Just bring back enduring confrontation in AB and RB...

Didn't know the price was made up by Gaijin...

Depends on the side you want to play.

As historical Events with unequal strengh of the war material and unequal numbers of players in exchange have shown - only some Sim-Players are ok with getting the short end of the stick.

Everybode else wants to be the cluber, awaiting others that they want to be clubed.

And a lot of players cried a lot about it and didn't got why there is nobody on the bad side, because they want to play the good side...

Gaijin controls supply.  This affects price.

The whole problem with WWM.

WWM as designed is poorly designed.

Make multiple factions able to participate on either side.

Get away from historical MM and do BR MM.

Do you know why, tactically, you try and achieve asymmetry in combat?  To gain a decisive advantage over your opponent.  Asymmetrical battles are only fun for one side.

The list goes on and on.   Heck just read the forum on it.

WWM does not make players more happy to play the game.  Perhaps it generates revenue because people would rather buy the stars than participate in WWM.  But doesn't Gaijin have enough ways to make money?  Do they really need to hide MORE desirable vehicles behind terrible gameplay to convince people to buy them?  *cough* Helicopters are enough already *cough*.

The problem is, it does not applie here.

Gaijin did a lot to balance out the WWM, so that both side can win even when the real historic battle was not that way. And that happend.

Even for the price that the battles become unhistoric.

If a battle in WWM because one sided depends on the commander. If he does refuse to add air support to a battle, even if he could, you won't get it.

But I don't even get what you want with more factions.

And the players do control the supply 1. getting the coupon (was even possible for 3k GE, what is far below the marked place price btw) and 2. posting (or not posting) it to the markedplace for a ammount of money they want to get.

And to be honest, WWM is a mode build for the squads.

they could always just do what everyone ASKED for with mixed everything ec......you'd have to do moving spawns based on caps but IK their engine can do it because if my untalented self can figure out the cdk enough to do it I'm 200% sure gaijin could make it playable and fun. for example there is NO other game with anything like naval ec and yet we haven't see it in months due to wwm. they could easily add the ships to sim ec if they just reduce the aa accuracy to reflect the more realistic game mode....wait that would take 2 seconds for turning on the isPlayer modifier on the naval spawns and turning down an accuracy modifier....probably too much work while the dev blackhole that is wwm is still afloat. to the other guy....second battle of el alamein without italy seems weird that's why more factions....ya know the country that fought at that battle while germany ran tf away.
