JUMBO_TITAN 47 Report post Posted August 23, 2020 There are two Sherman tanks on the Chinese tank list. But I found something strange. However, the Chinese military has only found a photo that appears to have used the 76mm Sherman. The M4A2 Sherman looks no different than the other Sherman, but in fact, the tank is equipped with a 76mm gun. According to my research, this tank appears to have been donated to the Chinese People's Liberation Army Tank Division since the Korean War. It does not appear to be a fully restored item, but it appears to have 76mm gun attached to the basic gun tower of M4A2 Sherman. Please leave a comment on what you think of this tank! tiger7742 260 Report post Posted November 17, 2020 (edited) Interesting... I have made a suggestion that is similar to this, but it is a M4A3 76(w), yet this is also really cool. Here is the link to my suggestion: https://forum.warthunder.com/index.php?/topic/502700-the-chinese-m4a376w-hvss-sherman/&tab=comments#comment-8737983 Edit: do you mind sharing your sources about the history and donation of this tank? it may be able to help me with collecting the history of the M4A3 my suggestion above is about, thanks! This is more akin to M4A3 Firefly with the 17pdr http://www.missing-lynx.com/gallery/48/images/m4a3fireflysz_3.jpg M4A3 75mm converted into Firefly configuration in UK after battle of the bulge. if its using US 76mm, this is the first time i saw US 76mm with the round turret. is the gun fake perhaps? JUMBO_TITAN 47 Report post Posted November 30, 2020 (edited) Obviously, Sherman looks like a firefly, but it's Sherman with a 76mm gun. Its name is M4A3E4, which was not used in the U.S. but was donated to other countries such as M4A4. This tank was mainly used by Indian or Pakistani troops. Based on the contents of the book, it is presumed to have been captured in China during the Korean war. I will attach the actual picture. DMYEugen 688 Report post Posted March 6, 2023 Unfortunately, this appears to be a restoration. It's not a real 76. Below is a picture of the same vehicle but without the dummy barrel.
