Brief History

During the 20's and 30's Sweden was experimenting with different vehicle designs. By the early 1930's it was requested that a tank be made with a similar layout to the Panzer I. The prototype was completed in 1934 along with the L-10 and L-30. This first prototype was essentially a lightened version of the upcoming L-60 coming in a only 4.5 tons and possessing a crew of two. Oddly the vehicle was classified as a "super light" tank rather than a tankette. This prototype was mostly used to test out the new torsion bar suspension that would be later used. The chassis was demonstrated to Polish delegates in the mid 1930's as a multi configurable tank with the options to use either machine guns or the Madsen 20mm autocannon. In the end the incomplete prototype was rejected.

The madsen had what penetration exactly? I hear it was a marginal. A bit like the 12.7mm but with less ammo in the mag.

According to the Aberdeen report in the op the the AP round could get through 1.5 inchs of homogeneous plate at 100 yards and during the test did manage to penetrate an M2A2 light tank.

The L-100 was never equipped with the 20 mm Madsen autocannon. That photo is a doctored shot from a demonstration of the chassis to Polish deligates. The 20 mm Madsen variant was offered to Poland, that's the drawing you have, but it was never built as such. Thus, this is only a paper vehicle. Also, I've seen no evidence that two prototypes were built, or even that the chassis was actually completed as the second picture I posted may also be doctored (but the latter is just speculation). I assume this info is based on the post on FTR by Sp15, but that info is outdated. As a side-note, the designation "Landsverk L-100" is incorrect, Landsverk vehicles were either called "Landsverk+number" or "L+number", aka Landsverk 100 or L-100, but not both together.

This is the real full prototype:

Thank you for correcting me on this.

Since this is a paper tank I'll have the suggestion purged.

Well it's already made so I don't think that's necessary personally. Gaijin has added vehicles of similar construction status (in this case at least the chassis was built), so it's not completely out of the question. Who knows, maybe it could be a Polish premium in the future since this 20 mm configuration was offered to them

  • WiseMinerva changed the title to L-100

I love it, it would be one of those tanks, that can make a great effect, while also beeing easyly taken care of by a single straving from a plane with a 20mm.

Interestingly this is the first gun i remember, coming across which has a he round that is heavyer than the Ap round.

This light tank, an autocannon-equipped tracked vehicle like the Panzer 2, might be the non-premium version of the event premium Pbil/m40. Would like to put it as a researchable vehicle.

The tank is slightly faster than the Panzer 2 but suffers from lower survivability. It’s smaller size means it can sneak to smaller spaces and potentially ambush enemies with it’s auto cannon armament, pretty much but not so much like the CV.33. So, it is a fairly decent vehicle in game.
