What is difference from ZTZ96A we already have?

So far as I can tell, it is the same as the ZTZ96A, but it has no ERA on the turret, which is slightly differently shaped, and comes with a soft-kill APS. Those are the major differences I noted on a quick view of it. It still has thermal imaging and the 125-I sabot ammunition. Also yes, sadly no helicopters for China.

This update didn't disappoint compared to the past 2 updates, NGL. A competitive top tier fighter and competitive MBT at 8.7? I'll frigging take it. ZTZ88 seems like its gonna be a T55AM1 but with a stronger engine.

Sweden and Israel are both younger than China but China has no heli tree yet 

 

But according to a datamine it said that there was an option added ingame that would enable ranks to be reached first before unlocking the heli trees, for Israel, Sweden, and CHINA....

do yalls think that the ZTZ96A prototype is somewhat overtiered? DM33 105 and other 400mm+ pen rounds can eat through the turret with ease, unlike the 96A production variant and the TURMS.

Maybe the armor just isn't set up yet as a normal ZTZ96 can stop a DM33

Maybe it could be added as a modification if not an entirely new tank in the TT...

I don't think that's a regular 96A, has a different gunner sight along with the IR jammers

It does! I'm just glad Gaijin finally gave China something like other nations have, a tank with thermal imaging as a pack vehicle. This should do just fine, and 9.7 seems okay for it.

For sure, the J-8B makes me happy to see because Gaijin is finally tapping into the huge aircraft industry of the PRC. I like the looks of the ZTZ88A a lot, though I should figure out what vehicle to replace it with in my 8.7 lineup, perhaps the M60A3 TTS.

Replace the 59D1 with the 88A. 59D1 is  arguably the worst MBT in 8.7. Yes, thermals. But the HORRIBLE turret traverse is what makes it such.

 

M60A3 TTS is decent.

Considering ordering too...Still on the fence about it, since tbh I am very disappointed that China is yet left out on helis...now the only nation without even a single heli...a shame really!

Aren't the ZTZ-88 and ZTZ-96 supposed to be shared the same chassis ? But the armor and performance seem to be inconsistent and all over the place.

Just dumping some interesting pictures that I found on another forum

Supposed BK-1871 cross section. Not sure if accurate (the UFP in the picture seems to be quite small compared to what it looks like in the blueprint). But if it is accurate the BK1871 seems to have a T-72-like hull with a Western powerpack- which is big news for me cuz I would sell someone else's kidney to have a T-72 style ZTZ in the Chinese tree that can reverse at 20kph.

What does this mean? Ranks as in player levels or vehicle tier?

Late to the party, but I certainly won't replace the M60A3 TTS as it is arguably one of the best tanks in the Chinese 8.7 lineup. It doesn't seem like a good idea to replace a tank with a decent reload and thermal imaging with one that has a longer reload and no thermals.

I ended up retraining my ZTZ59D1 crew to the ZTZ88A in the end. It lacks thermals, but the longer gun and mobility are worth it for me.
