war thunder please treat mac users with some respect

Like many other war thunder players who meet the system requirements on mac after the new updates the game has become unplayable.

I understand problems can arise but why is it so difficult to acknowledge the fact and make an announcement along the lines of

"We know there are issues and we are working hard to rectify them" instead of the deathly silence which is upsetting many players.

Those like myself who have paid for premium accounts but cannot now play the game have every right to be annoyed.

It's not just the silence but the way they talk back to those that post about the issue.  I've read some pretty rude comments when someone post about an issue they're having and it's not coming from the player.

Gaijan should reimburse those that had premium accounts.  Luckily for me, I only had a few days left on mine before the issue of the game crashing arrived so I only lost 4 or 5 days.  I can say that I won't be spending any money on the game until it is fixed.

If you want my opinion.  This won't be resolved for a few weeks as I don't think they have a proper QA setup if they can work on something for a year and have a game killing bug...

macOS has always been shafted when it comes to combat flight simulators for the past 10-15 years. The loss of Boot Camp and the high performance of Apple Silicon chips makes it ever more important for combat flight sims to consider supporting this new architecture now. It's projected marketed share between ARM and x86 on computers could be similar by 2025. Apple Silicon Macs will likely be a sizeable chunk of ARM's market share by that time.

This is a great time not to only start caring more about the current Mac playerbase by fixing existing performance and graphical issues but also potentially attract more customers from the macOS userbase when Apple Silicon becomes common in cirulation.

The days when Macs are trash at gaming are numbered, and the M1 chip is a good sign of what's yet to come. How much better will the 16-inch MacBook Pro and iMac be when they get Apple Silicon?

By targeting Apple Silicon Macs, you'll even have the potential for iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV ports. Apple could potentially help provide marketing for War Thunder in a future event of theirs showing off iPad mouse and keyboard support. The Magic Keyboard case on the iPad Pro is quite similar to MacBook keyboards. I can say for certain from experience playing War Thunder on my 16-inch MacBook Pro that's it's possible to easily bind MEC controls for prop pitch, oil and engine radiators, and mixture. Now imagine Apple showcasing all of that. Gaijin, this means you have a huge amount of money you could potentially earn from the Apple ecosystem and eventually improve the game overall for all users.

The 14th army in Burma was known as the forgotten army just like mac users here,

Still no acknowledgement anywhere of the massive problems gaijin has caused us.

Games continually logs itelff out, try playing when you are continually disconnected during a game and losing your vehicles that is if you even get into a game before it quits.

If my electricity or internet fails they do not expect me to pay, tough luck if you just got a premium account like me.

They caused this problem not the players they need to do something.

Well to be honest, War Thunder switched to Metal which is huge. I think after a long long time we might see a native war thunder as the devs see the possibilities.
And to be fair they asked for CLOG files and almost no one provided them.

But it’s nothing new that Gaijin answers late or halfassed to the community. It’s pretty much since the beginning so stay calm, work with what they provide and some day maybe we see a Apple Silicone Native version. In my opinion the usage of Metal even though many report issues at the moment and the switch to 64 Catalina hints that Gaijin is actually interested in MacOS.
Just look at other games and their support with MacOS... COD almost disappeared completely for Macs overnight because no Metal and no 64Bit .

so stay calm and hope they somehow get their hands on a Mac M1 and some data from us. The current state of New Power isn’t a Mac only Problem and there is Hope still. It looks more like teething issues with the engine so.

The game is unplayable, crashes after a few minutes. The silence of Gaijin is at least impolite to its Mac customers.

I don't think that i will spend another Euro in the months to come, not because of the failure of the game after the update, but because of the treatment of us Mac users on this issue by Gaijin.

An official Gaijin statement, informing the Mc users what to expect in future, would be a normal reaction of this unplayable update.

I would like to know from the Gaijin developers whether this game will be playable for me on the iMac 2017 in future or not - so i can spend my money otherwise.

And as I mentioned Gaijin is slow and doesn’t like to answer us.

not the first time War Thunder was unplayable after an update for Mac users

I remember that it was around last year when a certain update suddenly stopped working on my 13MBP but than a ninja patch actually got war thunder back running

I have no idea how they test their new updates but playing for five minutes on a mac would have shown the game is now unplayable, I find it difficult to believe they did not know of the issues.

So what exactly happens:

Game seems to log itself out? you rarely get error reports from apple, a handful of times out of the literally hundreds it has quit on me.

You log back in and then it may go for a little while before quitting again or it will constantly log you out as soon as renter the game.

Graphics may become terrible ranging from dim to total blackness that is if the game does not totally freeze your computer which is very rare on Macs, having to restart due to freezing.

On the rare times you get an error report ace whatever that is is responsible.

Please forgive my lack of technical expressions/ knowledge, I am nearly 60 and play war thunder with my grandson.

I have uploaded .clog files and every other related file generated by the game. At the suggestion of the mac bug forum lead I installed macOS 11.1 beta system software...but, no luck.

It's now been two weeks of being unable to play for more than a few minutes before being quit back to the desktop.

Like some of you, I'd like two things:

1. an acknowledgement by someone within Gaijin software development the bug exists and is real, they know about and are working on fixing it (if that's actually the case).

2. an extension of my premium account for the days I've lost being unable to play (and I played nearly daily for the last couple of years).

Multi-platform s/w development is no easy task, and I applaud Gaijin for developing a great, fun game which is mac compatible. I just want to be treated with some respect as a user...regardless of what platform I'm playing on.

One other thing, NEW POWER worked fine on my machine macOS 11.0.1 before v2.1.0.5x. Only after v2.1.0.5x (maybe .60 or .62 ... cannot recall) did the in game crashes begin. That very fact should make finding the issue much easier; simple file diffs of routines edited in that timeframe should get you started. Two weeks (or three, four, eight,) makes it seem as if they can't be bothered, thought they have time to fix decal placement issues and other "critical" issues. Makes zero sense to me.
