Doesn't look too promising at a 10.0 br

It is a ~50 ton vehicle with 1500hp so it should be pretty quick. It should have FY2 ERA equivalent to contact 5 IIRC as well as thermals for both commander and gunner. The base armour is what i'm worried about. Im hoping it is given better if not similar armour protection to the ztz96A (has good armour just terrible placement i.e no composite on LFP). Ztz99 is often claimed to be based on the t72 and knowing gajin they will probably use the t72A as a reference which has terrible armour. 

 

Overall its a decent tank. It has good armour (maybe not against new dm53, but maybe against dm33) and good mobility. Probably the only thing holding it back would be its apfsds as I don't see gaijin giving this thing a high penning rod on par with dm53. 

 

We will have to wait and see as this could be the ztz99 without ERA and as always BR's on dev servers/streams are subject to change

Is the ZTZ99 just a Type 99? I'd assume china would have a tank that could take at least 10.7 if not 10.3.

Sorry if i got my facts wrong. Some websites have it at 1500hp others at 1200 and many of these sources are unreliable. I know that at least the early variant without ERA had a 1200hp engine. Also I was just stating that gaijin tends to guestimate their armour values for modern MBT's. I don't know what sources Gaijin has or how they will translate it into the game or even what variant of the Ztz99 we are getting. We will have to wait and see.

Most likely WIP, it's only the first dev server so it's not really possible to draw any conclusions out of it yet.

 

Keep in mind ZTZ-99 wasn't even ready on the Russian dev stream so everything's possible.

I seriously hope we get this skin option (and modification, prolly in 2022 lol). 99A with this skin would be the sexiest tank in the game then, stealing that laurel from 80U.

I would have said WIP but perhaps the devs consider the 99 gunsight to be the same as the 96?

no its not? the gun is also not the same its actually a ZPT 98 which is an L50 compared to the L48 on the type 88c. also it has 700mm of hull armor and is suppose to have 2nd gen thermals and citv

*Note: IRCM / LWS is what I think it'll be modeled as in the game, because optics don't have a real purpose and they'd have to model in all the laser rangefinders if they modeled it as a laser dazzler

Yes it had access to Refleks type ATGMs. It'll probably have a Chinese 9M119M1 analogue when the patch drops.

The patch dropped, and the ZTZ99 gets a cool round and LWS, but gets upped to 10.7. I blame Laurelix for that Leopard 2A6 post.

The thing is it wasn't simply equiped with a LWR ( laser warnign receiver ) , it has also a LSDW ( laser self defence weapon ) as countermeasure , which is essentialy a powerfull laser that attacks the enemy laser pointer / optics in order to disrupt laser guidance or/and burn optics of the tanks painting it with laser .

 

In other words if we take example on how Shtora works in the game then ZTZ-99 should be imune to any laser guided ATGM and should be imune to laser rangefinding aswell if not totaly disabling the optics of the tank that was lasing it .

 

Surprise surprise neither of these features has been implemented ( from what  i can see knowing i don't have DLed the patch yet and i dont have access to the vehicle )  ......
