TL;DR for WT changes over the last 2 years?

Hi guys! I had accumulated at least a couple thousand hours on AB (Air only) before getting distracted by other games and taking a break from War Thunder about 2 years ago, but I've messed around with a couple of sorties this past week and am considering coming back.

 

It looks like there's been a good number of updates and changes, which is awesome. But so that I don't get overwhelmed by everything, I was curious if anyone could briefly list out or summarize what you thinks have been the most significant updates/changes (relating only to AB-Air) that have occurred in the last 2 years? I'd be specifically curious about things like game mode additions/changes, economic (RP, Lions, and GE) updates, flight mechanic/control changes, BR matchmaking mechanics, and also which planes are now OP (and which aren't anymore).

Wow, this could take a while to compile...

1) Bot Il-2's zooming around, you get a tiny xp and sl reward for killing them but no kill credit...If they aren't taken out they will kill your ground targets quickly...This is in addition to the ground bots already being used...

2) The most OP plane imho is the B-18B, a Swedish bomber/dive bomber at Tier 3 BR 2.7...Can climb to ridiculous altitudes, out turn spits for a brief time, out dive any plane it faces and pound bases with a vast array of shooty 'xpody things...Fav load is 2 x 600kg 'xpodys...

3) Costs are higher and rewards are lower...

Have to think of more, 2 years is a bit of time...I am sure others will drop by...

Ha thank you, Hoch. I did notice #1 a few times and was like, "Oh, that's interesting"....

 

Right now I have a grand total of 0 aircraft for the newer countries (China, Italy, France, Sweden), will have to see if it'll be worth the time grinding them out. I also forgot to note that I primarily play prop planes, rather than jets.

It is very worth grinding them...you already know about the Swedes...France has the V.G. 33C-1 which for some reason is a stupidly excellent plane @ BR 2.3 which in part may be due to whom you fly against but also because it works like a 109 F-4

The Italians once you reach the Re.2001 and C.202EC become fabulous to fly...On par with the 109's which they can out turn but not out energy and the spits which they can out energy but not out turn (in most cases)...Once you get to this level of Italians you get MG 151's and no longer have to worry about the Italian 12.7's

I haven't bothered with the Chinese AF since it is mostly cobbled together from a bunch of nations although people seem to like the CW-21...

Same here for me as to I only care about props and pretty much don't care about jets or bombers, they mostly become hanger queens...
