LeninTheMaster2 3 Report post Posted January 2, 2021 Few months ago i got my first helicopter, the Soviet Mil Mi-4AV. Since then i have been trying to get the Mi-24A , but its starting to get impossible. Its impossible to do anything in the EC since 99.9% of the time i get missiled by a Ka-50 10km away from me, and I barely get 1k RP from a 1 hour long match. In ground RB, if I take the Mi-4AV as the starting helicopter, someone shoots me down before I even reach the battlefield since my helicopter cant go over ~150km/h. If I however somehow manage to spawn it with 4x falanga ATGMs I either get shot down by a jet soon after I take off, or by a Gepard or any other radar guided SPAA before I even get to launch an ATGM. I am well aware that grinding starting helicopters is pain, and the best thing i could probably do is buy the Ka-50, but I am not that kind of a player. You barely get any RP out of ground RB, or assault and as you said, heli EC really isn't that much fun, when you constantly get sniped from outside of your view range... I am afraid, the by far best way to get through the grind is to wait for the next sale and get a premium helicopter pack. I am aware that the best option is buying the Ka-50, but I just want to stay f2p as much as I can since I still haven't spent any money on this game. Target1331 3,055 Report post Posted January 2, 2021 Unfortunately, atm the least frustrating method is in PvE Assault mode. The good part is that it can be quite relaxing, though you only get noticeable RP rewards when actually winning. When losing, the rewards are almost non-existing. As an early heli-pilot don't bother going for kills, but instead go for disabling shots to delay the tanks as much as possible from reaching the base. This helps you and the tankers much more than trying to kill a single tank. PvE Assault has been pretty much the only mode I have been able to unlock the US UH-1B and German UH-1D, though partially through the use of the premium helis and a few RP from EC in pre-Ka-50 EC times. TinyTinkerTank 170 Report post Posted January 3, 2021 (edited) The Mi-4AV has the big advantage of having ATGMs with the longest range at that BR. If think they have a range of 3.5 or 4km whereas the radar AA's like the Gepard only have a range of up to 3km but practically way less. Stay low behind cover like trees and hills and close to the ground and maybe use your unique advantage of outranging most ground AA. You can't really do anything against planes besides trying to stay close to the ground where you are hard to see. Also if you keep your range they might not even look that far away from the battlefield. I managed to grind out the ATGM in Arcade Assault, but then they nerfed rewards immensely so I played SB, its really easy you just float up and yeet ATGM until you die, but then as I said they nerfed rewards. I managed to finish grinding the Mi-24A in the Assault ground arcade gamemode, and from there I continued painfully grinding in the heli EC. So far I got Mi-24P but I can't buy it yet. I want to thank everyone that helped me get through the pain called Mi-4AV.
