it looks like the Vape-2 has the same chasis but hugely enlarged, like a fat version of it

It's a bit fatter because it's missing the boxes that the chassis usually has all around.

Yep, both still exist, one in a museum, the other in a private collection. I had plans to visit that specific one in the photo, but due to covid the museum is closed
