Patria AMV28A

The AMV28A, Armored Modular Vehicle 28 ton amphibious, is a vehicle designed and built by the Finnish company Patria. It is a wheeled infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) designed for amphibious landing operations.

Design

Spoiler

The AMV28A is based on the standard AMV hull but lengthened to support a larger and heavier turret, in this case the Kongsberg Protector MCT-30. It weighs 28 tons, has a length of over 7.9 meters, a width of 2.85 meters without the amphibious kit, and a height of 2.4 meters for the hull. It has a crew of three, a driver in the hull front and the gunner and commander in the turret. It can carry eight infantry passengers in the rear of the hull.

The main armament consists of a 30 mm Mk 44 Bushmaster II autocannon fitted in the MCT-30 turret. There is also a coaxial 7.62 mm machine gun and the commander received a remote weapons station (RWS) mounting a 12.7 mm M2HB machine gun and a Javelin anti-tank guided missile (ATGM) launcher.

The engine is a Scania DI12 that produces 567 horsepower, coupled with a seven forward and one reverse gear transmission. This gives the AMV28A a maximum speed of 100 kilometers per hour on land. It is fitted with a hydropneumatic suspension system that allows to raise and lower the vehicle. Additionally, the AMV28A is capable of amphibious operations at a maximum speed of 10 kilometers per hour, propelled by two propellers at the rear. The AMV28A is fitted with a bolted-on amphibious kit that allows operation in waters as rough as sea state 3.

The AMV28A is claimed to protect against 30 mm APFSDS rounds on the frontal arc and also against a 10 kg mine blast. It also received eight smoke grenade launchers and has the possibility of equipping a defensive aids system (DAS) potentially with a laser warning system.

History

Spoiler

The AMV28A was first revealed at IDEX 2017, and it completed amphibious trials with no difficulties in May 2017 in constant wind speeds of 10 to 13 meters per second with gusts up to 17 meters per second. No nation has chosen to procure it so far.

Seems like a promising addition if it were added. Like Sweden plus Nordic countries vehicles within the tree.

If so, when would this be added? It's quite into the future of WT?

But, YES please, add vehicle into Sweden/Nordic TT when the time has come.
