Why do planes spawn right behind me in arcade?

19 out of 20 times I spawn a plane, an enemy plane, sometimes two spawn right behind me, not really sure what I am to do with a plane 0.4 behind me? It seems like poor design.

I think we're talking in Ground Battles here.

I commented on it before. It appears to be by design. A bomber spawns, with enemy fighters 0.4 miles behind, then allied fighters 0.6 miles away from the enemy fighters. Just one of those things.

Really, so the guy that shot down my B-25 did not spawn there? Funny, I heard the engine cut in.

Yeah. No enemy aircraft spawned right behind you. They all spawned on their side of the map, just as you spawn on yours.

What happened was you got spawncamped:

The enemy planes climbed high and crossed the map, hovering above your spawn point. The moment you spawn they dive down and kill you. You don't see them on the mini map because your crew stats are low so it seems like they just spawned out of thin air. But they were there the whole time.

As _Muzz said, he probably means ground AB and yes, fighters spawn on bombers tails and the friendly fighters 9 out of 10 to far away to engage them so the bomber gets shot down in seconds after spawning.

It's just ridiculous how it's implemented in ground AB

If that's the case, then my bad :)

It does seem like they tend to spawn 0.8-1.2 away on your sides, but this guy was spawned right behind me, max 0.5 away, I heard his engine and looked back and he was at 0.4.

Still in my mind it is a major mistake that this happens, granted planes are a poor gimmick, but making it so that you are likely to be shot down, before you get to drop your bombs? I am sorry, but that is just stupid.

Plane spawning in Ground Arcade in most cases is a disgrace.

When I spawn in a tank, there is no enemy tank right behind me.

Agreed, but i doubt they have the resources to do anything about it, even long time broken maps are not fixed, at best the intern adds a few trees.

It's by design because airplanes are free in ground arcade.

They have the advantage, so to eliminate that the fighters spawn on your tail.

Now you need skill to kill a tank, plus some LUCK.

Skill? I spawned 0.3 from a poor guy in a bomber, the guy was dead 3 seconds after I spawned. Skill... pfff. It is stupid, plain and simple. You can question the idea of having planes in the game, I would argue that it is a bad idea, I see it as a bad gimmick, because the only good counter you have is a hard counter, but no doubt they are here to stay.

The whole process of spawning in GFAB has gone to horse****

-enemy bombers spawn and waltz around the sky unchecked while I have 3 fighters on my tail within 5 seconds of spawning 90% of the time

-same people spawning in planes over and over again

and bla bla bla to all the things thats been mentioned ad nauseum in this forum...nothing ever changes

Yep, that pretty much is the whole thing in a nutshell. I do enjoy taking out a plane, but I also know that they are a really bad gimmick in the game and so I hate it when I get killed by one. And I really hate spawning in one, only to have an enemy right behind me.. A love, hate, hate thing.

Not true. Just start air, I always check back view whole zone behind me (I don\t care mini map) - no planes, for sure. I back to normal view and after 2 seconds they kill me in one shot. And it happens many times some way. I have more hours in air than tanks, so this is near impossible and it happens many times. Smells like a some kind of cheat or just broken design.

THIS^^ is perspective bias...it is very very RARE for a bomber to "waltz around"...90% of the bombers (using your number as stat is not real) are killed by enemy fighters...on both sides. The main question is if they will be able to drop the bombs BEFORE being shot down.

Conversely...it is far more frequent for fighters to "waltz around"...they often survive the initial melee...and will attack ground vehicles...usually open top or light armor.

(dont recall having 3 on my tail...even 2 is rare...)

awww weed hopper! They do not spawn behind YOU! It is YOU who spawn before THEM!

Not sure how joking this was intended...but it is simply THIS^^

The game places bomber/attacker on attack run...then places interceptors behind (sometimes at an angle)...and then places escorts behind interceptors.

Then it is a race to see who gets close enough and has good aim...or who gives it up...bombers are often brought down because they are the easiest targets...fighters that turn hard or dive are often ignored by enemy fighters...too much work and easier to go chase something in the ground...

Again...it is an aiming contest...fighters CAN kill with one shot if well aimed, lucky or heavy weaponry...easier it the target flies straight...

BUT...this works both ways...you often get targets that dont try to avoid you because they prefer to focus on what they are attacking...then you "just" need to aim straight...

ALWAYS assume that you have an enemy on your tail (or at an angle) if you are the interceptor...90% of the time (again, hypotetical number but close to reallity) you will be attacked from behind, even if you dont see it...

my post is a take on a quote from an old american TV series called "Kung xxxx". It may have been before your time. It was a joke though. BUT very true.

We are talking ground battles here and they really do. The amount of times I spawn a bomber only for it to be disabled as soon as I can take control of it. Literally spawning at optimal gun range behind me. Especailly at mid tiers where 30mm means you instadie.

Seems to be worse when you are on the losing team too. Even if you get friendly fighters they have no chance of helping you. I just wanna J out when I realize I have spawned 2km from the action with two enemy fighers 400 meters behind me.

EDIT: jup, just happened again. spawning about 3000 meters from the fight in a propellar bomber with two JET FIGHTERS, cause yeah at 5.3 gajin felt fighters didnt get enough farm. twor friendly fighters spawned too. they could not even get CLOSE to enemy before I was farmed...

First of all, if you want it to change, the only option we (players) have is to push suggestions with votes/comments to be passed to devs. Want to do something about - consider voting and commenting here:

Secondly, from my experience, the bomber will die/get damage loosing control immediately when shot at by enemies right before you get to drop the bombs if you have a task where bombing would bring, and it will be virtually immune if you have finished your daily tasks and any challenges that may be affected by dropping the bombs. It's just this kind of approach to retention - the game shows you "an easy way" to get premium stuff, but it's not that easy. All magical bonkers things stem from making sure you spend more time in the game, by average of course, and thus extending the play time when you are trying to complete tasks seems to be the way they choose.

As long as there is air mission in ground AB, there is this obvious RNG rigging in it and you have no control over it. This has to change.
