Mac, game crashes, Fatal Error, 8111000A Freeze, since Direct Hit update

Hello Pony,

After the 'Direct Hit' update I am experiencing game freezes. Error message: Critical Error. Freeze detected [811000A]. Full freeze of game and computer. Restart of computer is required to be able to play again. 

 

They look awfully familiar with the game freezes I have been experiencing from Dec 2020 ui May 2021. For the last couple of months I was able to play without any game freeze whatsoever. So I thought Gaijin had this covered in some previous update. 

 

I am on a relatively new iMac (dec. 2020):

iMac Retina 5K, 27 inch, 2020

3,8 GHz 8-core Intel Core i7

32 Gb 2667 MHz DDR4

AMD Radeon Pro 5700XT 16 Gb

Big Sur 11.3.1

 

I am not allowed to attach the clog file due to size (144 kb?). I believe there is no replay when game freezes and computer needs to be restarted. 

 

Could you let me know how I can send you a screenshot and a clog file ? thanks in advance.

I updated this morning. Now after about 5 minutes of play in Air RB the machine resets. Complete hardware reboot.

 

I cannot make a complete bug report because none of the files are written out.

 

Appears to have something to do with fire effects.

 

My machine details are in my uploads.

My Mac crashed pretty much every single time I got shot down in a jet after new update Direct Hit.

 

When I got shot down in air rb, the screen froze and my Mac did not respond to any thing and I have to restart my Mac. For very few times, being shot down only caused a freeze of about 20 seconds and then everything functioned normally. Moreover, sometimes getting too close with other jets, friendly or enemy, in air rb also cause such a failure. I tried minimum graphics setting, lowest resolution, and playing the game in a window instead of fullscreen but this issue kept occurring. I tried one naval rb BR5.7 and the game functions properly. I also tried 11.0 air simulator battle where no freezes happened but the game quit to desktop about every five minutes.

 

My Mac system info is followed:

All 3 battles played since update had freezes and non-recoverable crashes, especially when zooming in on target. Ever since Red Skies have had to use the low res client (full client box unchecked)

I'm seeing the same issue on my machine:

 

iMac Retina 5K, 27 inch, 2017

3,4 GHz quad-core Intel Core i5

24 Gb 2133 MHz DDR4

AMD Radeon Pro 570 4 Gb

Catalina 10.15.7

 

My observations:

  • While in Test Flight with a plane, if I shoot down another plane or crash into the ground, the game freezes during the explosion
  • In Air matches, if any plane on screen explodes, the game freezes
  • In Ground matches, if a plane on screen explodes, the game freezes. Looking away from planes as they are shot down (or just looking straight at the ground) seems to alleviate this, but you can't guarantee that you'll be looking away from a crashing plane at any given time.

I have not tested to see if any other explosions cause the freeze (e.g. bombs detonating), but I haven't noticed any freezes while ammo-racking tanks.

  •  If I Command-Tab away from War Thunder the moment it freezes, I can usually get into a different program. When I return to War Thunder, it will usually still be frozen and there's a 50/50 chance that it will either recover or will throw a "The game has detected a freeze" message and close the game
  • If I wait in-game for it to recover, it generally will not. Occasionally the screen will start flashing, and then it will crash
  • One time this happened, the entire computer crashed and had to be rebooted. Unsure why this one was more severe than the others.

Attached are several .clog files from today. For some reason one of them refuses to upload (I believe this is the one from the computer crash).

Hello again,

I am able to launch War Thunder and get into the main screen, but whenever I get excepted into a game I freeze at the loading screen (the one showing the battle map before vehicle selection). I am having this issue with both Bluewater and Ground (RB). I have verified the game files both through Steam and the War Thunder launcher several times to avail.

Having the same issue when using AIR AB, screen freezes when there is an explosion or your planes dies or you zoom in or destroy another plane. Sometimes it will freeze for 20 seconds and then recover. This is however not always the case and the application just hangs forever.

 

· Screenshots of issue (as many as needed)

Not possible to due crash

 

· Replay (server link and/or game replay file)

 

· CLOG file (Can be found in: <user>/My Games/WarThunder/_game_logs/)

Hi Pony,

 

Thanks for looking into this! Pls find enclosed my system info and clog file. 

 

I suspect the freezes do (again) relate to explosions/bombs/crashes etc. Most freezes from last hours are related to these situations.

 

I discovered that there is a maximum quota of attachments on my account in this forum. So I deleted some old attachments. I didn't know this had to be done manually :-)

Since the Direct hit update the game crashed randomly mid battle. Usually as soon as I shoot down a plane. 

 

I am attaching screenshots of what happens and the clog and dmp files. 

 

The firewall is off by default on my mac but I did add WT in the system settings (see screenshots) as it was initially reporting that I cannot find the user profile and it wouldn't even launch initially. Now it launches but it crashes all the time mid battle. I have to reset the computer every time. It reports a freeze detected (screenshot attached as well) and the computer becomes unresponsive and have to restart. 

 

I'm running WT on a macbook pro (attached screenshot of my system specs)

 

Please kindly advise on how to proceed as it is unplayable at the moment.

Hi Pony,

I tried several ground rb. It worked fine only with some occasional dropping in FPS. The game also froze when I shot at a BB at 3 km in a naval rb and then my Mac crashed when I was in a plane in the same battle.

Perhaps I did not state it clearly enough: the CLOG file is not generated. The last CLOG in the folder is from the mission before the update.

 

Crashes in ground too, although much less frequently.

 

Today a new one: after locking up a dialog box appeared with a "FREEZE DETECTED" and an URL. Unfortunately, the URL was improperly formatted, and Copy did not work, so I cannot visit the page it refers to.

 

This morning's update didn't help.

Similar happening here.

The Direct Hit update is freezing during 50% of games (Tanks AB).  I haven't been able to see any pattern to crashes,

Worse than this, the crash behavior is worse than before. Previously when War Thunder froze (maybe in 1 in 20 games) I was able to easily Cmd-Tab out of the application, kill the War Thunder task and delete the 'not responding' war thunder and reload - usually in time to continue the game.

Now, this isn't possible any more. When War Thunder freezes now it freezes the entire system. It never did this before. Sometimes if I wait a minute or so it will eventually die and dump me back on the Mac desktop, but other times it doesn't and I have to physically reboot my MacPro with the power switch.

NOTE: Even in Crash a CLOG might be generated.  If no CLOG a Mac Crash Dump file is wanted.

I have the exact same problem, except the GPU driver dies and screen completely freezes, before the computer automatically restarts due to timed out.
I am on a 10 core iMac Pro with Vega 64
MacOS version is 11.5.2 (20G95)
tried updating system, using different graphics, nothing helped
