The 2 cm Flak 30/38 auf Bren Carrier (e) was an emergency conversion of captured vehicles to provide German units with more desperately-needed mobile anti-aircraft support.  This particular modification consisted of a captured Bren Carrier/Universal Carrier light APC fitted with a fully-rotating single 20mm autocannon turret complete with a gun shield.  Little is known about these vehicles other than that a small quantity were so converted and they were used in the Balkan theater in 1941.  Due to their emergency nature they were only used in support roles, and later in training for anti-aircraft gunnery crews.  Given the 30/38 nature of the name it seems plausible that some examples were fitted with FlaK 30 cannons and others were fitted with FlaK 38 cannons.

The German ground tree is not lacking in low-level AA units but I think this would make for an interesting premium or event vehicle.  It would also be quite simple for Gaijin to implement; all they would have to create is the Bren Carrier hull as the turret it uses is exactly the same as the one found on the existing Flakpanzer I and Flakpanzer 38.  I would also suggest that if added this vehicle use the FlaK 38 cannon, as the current two starting German SPAAs use that weapon and the FlaK 30 has a lower rate of fire, which would make this vehicle significantly less useful.  The FlakBren should be able to provide the same level of air support as its companion vehicles.

Wouldnt then be vehicles like the 5 cm Flak 41 or T 34 with 15mm Mg 151 Drilling more fitting? (No, i want to make a suggestion for that)

I mean, I'd take anything I could get tbh. I love playing AA in general and would honestly like to see a rework of time fuze for ground vehicles to make heavy AA platforms more viable. To my knowledge though the 5cm Flak 41 was never mounted on an independent vehicle? Though if it was it might make a nice AA for the TT either between the Ostwind II and Kugel or Kugel and Gepard

There is in fact a vehicle that mounts the 5cm FlaK 41 on a halftrack chassis.  I've looked into suggesting it before but it's almost impossible to find information on.

I'm curious if the "4cm Flak 28" (German designation for the 40mm Bofors) or "2 cm Flak 29" (German designation 20mm Oerlikon) ever had any vehicle mounts. However, most images seem to be Kriegsmarine usage only.

do a cross information

if the services is yet to be discuss, you can at least find partial information, use it as source

they you find information of the gun/turret and the truck separately. make some guess work about the weight and ammunition load based on the logic and you should get something worthy of a suggestion

  • Thanks 1

Good thinking.  That's more or less what I was planning on trying to do.  I'll keep it on my to-suggest list and get around to it eventually if nobody beats me to it.
