Rptd: FPS drops (matches and hangar) [Post Direct Hit update]

Someone on Support page asked me to post the issue here, I think you guys can see the whole conversation, here is the link: https://support.gaijin.net/hc/en-us/requests/1202662

# I have:

# Game version

My game version: (2.9.0.83)

# Description

Since the last update (Direct Hit) I'm having fps drops during the matches and also in the hangar, sometimes the game freezes several times then comes back, I've uploaded some videos for you to see it:

My game has a fresh install, drivers are updated, OS (Win10) and game are installed in an SSD. Here are the game settings I'm using, before Direct Hit some settings were higher, my attempts to lower them (textures for example) didn't succeed:

My PC specs: FX6300, 16GB of RAM, RX480 4GB, Crucial BX500 SSD.

# Steps to reproduce the issue

Visit https://warthunder.com/en and click on "Download game", wait for the launcher to complete the download, play the game, and if you're lucky, get some bugs.

1. It doesn't matter what tank or plane, neither the battle mode.

Did you use the FPS tool and was it running for those clogs?

If not, please use the FPS tool and activate it and run several games.

Can you also run a Trace Route please

Click the Windows Icon (bottom left hand side of screen)  This will display the Menu options.
    Choose Run
Type cmd  (this will open a command shell window)
    Type - tracert warthunder.com
    Press Enter
Please screenshot and include the path result.

Thanks

We cannot see the Gaijin Support links.

Do you use a cable or wi-fi connection to your router/modem?

Well, new update, MORE CONTENT, and my issue still persists, I did another fresh install of the game, erased any of trace before reinstalling it, nothing improved.

So, how long until someone from Gaijin speaks about this, are they ignoring this on purpose? Am I going to get a solution to my problem? By the way, I'm not the only one suffering these issues.

Am I going to keep posting here just to wait for days until my post gets approved and that's it? I mean, it took more than 2 weeks for the topic to get approved.

Here are more videos, the first one was before the last update, but the issue is the same.

Why does this happen? As soon as I hover the pointer over the tank the fps just drops.

There is also an fps drop when I move the mouse over the right side of the screen, and when moving the cursor on the tech tree:

Fps drops still occur, planes trigger these fps drops too. The freezing is the one that drives me nuts, and somehow I can't quite capture it, as soon as I start recording, the freezing stops, the videos only show the fps drops.
On all of the 3 videos I had the game freezing, it happens for a few seconds, the action halts, then gets back going again, compensating for the time that had been stopped with a fast-forward action. It happens on battle, on the hangar, on the test drive, it doesn't matter.

The beautiful "packet loss let me toss you back to garage f*ck your tanks" problem that we all love, I get these almost every day at least once, not only me, many players also do.

Firstly, we are volunteers.  We give up our 'spare time' to assist with War Thunder.  This is NOT our full time job etc.  We also have families and 'real employers'(the one's who pay us) to give our time too.

Please be patient and your report will be dealt with as we have the available time.  You are also not the only report we are dealing with.  A quick look through the forums will show that.

Your report is being handled as I have time and availability.  We also triage reports here.  Thus those reports that are stopping folks from playing or are widespread are dealt with first.  This is quite normal industry practice.  So there are other responsibilities that need to be addressed before we get to your issue.

Your tracert shows moderate packet loss across multiple hops(5-10).  These are 'beyond' Gaijin's ability to control.  They will impact the rate at which images etc are processed by your machine(ie: it cannot process what it does not have as the packet is being resent etc).  Please contact your ISP about this.  They are the ones who determine the path etc.  Some ISP's now charge gamers extra to ensure the better connections needed to play MMO games.  Please discuss this with your ISP.

I cannot replicate the issue.  As you can see my FPS counter barely moves through the changes etc.

"Many people" having an issue does not necessarily mean that it is the game at fault.  All these folks could be having comms issues due to weather or climatic events, damage to Network infra-structure, upgrades to infra-structure, attacks on infra-structure etc etc.

Has this issue got better for you after the server updates/upgrades over the weekend?

I'm not blaming you and I know you're not Gaijin staff, but we see that they (GJ staff) seem not to care about players complaints, many issues I see on the forums are from years ago. I don't see a developer posting here that they are aware and taking action to solve whatever it is that needs solving, and this frustrates players.

"Why does this happen? As soon as I hover the pointer over the tank the fps just drops."

"There is also an fps drop when I move the mouse over the right side of the screen, and when moving the cursor on the tech tree"

Your video doesn't show that, could you record another one? If you don't have this problem, congratulations, you're lucky.

@KnightoftheAbyss "Has this issue got better for you after the server updates/upgrades over the weekend?"

I'm afraid not, in one instance I got killed by a Ka-50 because the game started freezing like hell and I couldn't fire back, it happened so many times I don't even count anymore.

I'll post more clogs later.

Errr, No.  You are the unlucky one.   There are only a few such reports, for over 100,000 players 2 days ago!   And yes, the Developers rarely come here as they are doing what they get paid to do!  ie: make the game.  Not speak to the players.  That is why there are Community Managers and the Moderation staff.  This is the part that we do!   I hope you understand that now.  Your understanding of the way things work here appears limited.

I am not really sure what you expect the Developers to do, to be honest.   If they spent their time talking to players, they would never get any development done.  And that is what makes the game profitable and keeps it going.   Yes all that 'new content' you were complaining about.  That's what funds the 'free' game.  It is not a difficult concept to grasp.  It is standard capitalism.

They do run questionaires etc from time to time, to get a feel for what is wanted etc.  There are also feedback forums where they in fact DO listen to the player base.  You must have missed them.  The direct questionaires often throw up things that are completely different to what a vocal and loud few espouse here on the forums and SM!   Were you aware of that?

Did you bother to contact your ISP?  Or did you just ignore that aspect that was clearly explained to you.  This would also explain why you have the issue and very few others(like me) don't.

You are also running a near 10 year old CPU, that was a 'budget' CPU when it was released.  Many reviews online indicate that it is not that good for gaming.  Have you read those reviews?

The GPU is nearly 5 years old.   My 'lucky' system is considerably newer and more powerful.

Make sure that you run the FPS logging tool and also provide the tracert from that time too.

Thanks

I need the associated replay files as well please. And even possibly a video that will hopefully show the freezes.

I have already shown you how this issue does not happen for me.  It is highly possible that it will therefore not happen for the Dev's too.

By providing as much information as possible you can help everyone to assist you with your issue.

But we at least need the replay files and their associated clog files with the FPS tool running and the associated tracert at that time.

The Dev's need to look at all those files and information.  This is why they ask for them.

Thanks

Well, I can't find the replays (I don't have them on in the game), but I've recorded the freezing as it happened:

I recorded using my smartphone because if I use any software to do it the freezing doesn't happen, instead I get an fps drop while it lasts.

So where are the replay's, clog(s), Screenshots, dxdiag etc?  I need ALL those files, together (for the same game(s)) to look at.

With video if possible.  But I cannot accept just videos.  I need the other files as clearly asked for in the template.

You have 48 hours to provide all the files and information asked for, or I will close this report and you will need to make another one that contains all the files and information asked for in the template.

Thanks

Ok, so I posted before the 48 hours and my message was not approved.

Yes.  I have been at work.  The job that actually pays me so I can support my family etc..  We are volunteers.  We do this in our 'spare' time.  Please be patient as I have clearly advised you of before.
