In-game, this ship is classified as a "Gunboat", while it should be classified as a "Frigate" like its cousin Ikazuchi.

 

The ship's full name in-game is "Akebono-class, Akebono (DE 201)", a Destroyer Escort, which is synonymous with Frigate.

Akebono vs Ikazuchi's ship type. Ikazuchi is a sister design to Akebono with different engines
