I have no interest in playing against someone using a mouse

I am guessing this has been raised before but....

I am massively experienced on WT with over 10 days on the platform (!) and I'm still trying to get workable Full Realistic controls out of my Thrustmaster.  When I dip my toes into the Arcade it seems very likely that some of the people there are playing against me with a mouse.  Click: the airplane goes there.  Click: the airplane shoots there.  Why would I waste my time playing against people who have no interest in applying themselves in any way? Is there anywhere to play against people who only use joysticks?

Come and join the sim crowd and play Enduring  Confrontation. Cockpit view only and realistic controls. There is unfortunately a mode called mouse joystick which does allow people to play in sim without a joystick but it’s not like the computer assisted aiming and flying of ab and Sb. But at least there’s none of that 3rd person view **** where you can all round you ( next time you are in a plane check where the pilot is sitting lol)

2 hours in game is far cry from playing a few minutes a day for 10 days. You're still in the beginners sandbox playing against bots. Another 5 or 6 hours and your gaming life will become more interesting for you. There are threads in these forums on how to set up a joystick properly for this game. When you do have it setup, you will be at a massive disadvantage during the course of your Warthunder career, unless you only play Sim. If you last that long

I'm glad to know that what you are saying is available. I am completely on the other side of the fence from Hubris_Stick...I might play one or two rounds a day, just doing it to get my mind off work between calls every now and then. I don't want to play Sim or Realistic mode. Arcade mode is about the right length of time, but most people don't care about actually doing the objective, they just want to dog fight, so that is frustrating. Appreciate you guys posting this so that I know what to avoid, not just for myself but to not look like a complete moron.

When I joined the game, I only played with joystick, and I kept doing so for some time. The truth however was, that in arcade, the controls would simply not work as you would expect it from other flight sims. So after a while, I relearned plane control with mainly keys and a little mouse. If you play by mouse only, you will be victimized, cause you will be at a constant disadvantage.

I was disadvantaged enough playing with a controller, and I did pretty alright most of the time.

I'd never try playing with a joystick. Best of luck to you guys who do that.

The problem is the controls don't defect as much with the joy stick.

Somewhere there is a guy that built a 'joy stick' that actually hits the keyboard buttons, that would work for War Thunder.

Among other problems is how to make a joystick with feedback like a real plane, well everything up to the Mig-17.

Then after that, planes became like cars, hydraulic steering followed by electric steering!  In planes it is called fly by wire.

(which is harder than using a real joystick)

Harder than flying a real plane you mean. It's a joke and part of the barrier to entry putting people off, if they have to physically buy an interface device for a casual weekend game..

You can’t fly easily in arcade with a stick. It’s way too sensitive. Believe me I tried.

You just need to focus on planes that you can control.

For instance I play planes with joystick in arcade battles when I need to achieve warbonds. Most of twin engines planes are okay. Hellcats and most torpedoe bombes are okay too.

But besides for warbonds and battleplass challenges, you should play sim.
