Single plane Br discount - Pro/Con - Should it be removed?

In Air Arcade Battle, your Br drops down 1 "notch" if you only enter with a single plane.
- A P-47 that normally has a Br of 4.0 would be discounted down to 3.7-

I assume that it is done that way in order to not penalise the team that has a player that in effect only has 1 (2 with a backup ) plane instaed of a full lineup, it creates another problem.

 

It seems to me that it incentivises 1-life-leavers - players who play until they die once, leave, and move on to the next game. 

So, what are the actual pros and cons of this system, and further - should it stay, go - be modified?
