HexeMilli 1 Report post Posted December 19, 2021 Im currently thinking about the F-89B as well as the F-5C (Would prefer a jet) Thank you in advance
magazine2 7,957 Report post Posted December 19, 2021 I would say you should only buy a jet like the F-5C if you have experience in jets already. It may be 'the top dog' but if you are not experienced in jets, then it wont be that useful (not saying you are, just my general advice for anyone). If you are an experienced jet pilot then it's not bad, AV-8A is not bad too. However I would definitely wait for the Christmas sale, which is very close now - you could pick up a jet for a cheaper price! Not sure if the F-5C will be on sale since it is quite new, but others may be.
Samm692 0 Report post Posted December 19, 2021 The F86 premium is good if its still there. If not just get the f2g-1 and play the early jets. The F5-C is only good if you know how to play that era of jets already.
El Bananito@live 829 Report post Posted December 20, 2021 The F-89-C is so much better than the B, you'd miss out if you didn't get it. Basically can't miss head-on's with it's proximity fused rockets. Haven't flown the F-5C or AV-8 but I suppose they'd be only good at bombers if you don't know how to survive fighting jets. F-89C is a flying brick but those rockets that don't miss are basically your training wheels into the jet age.
HexeMilli 1 Report post Posted December 20, 2021 Yes, Ive tried it out in the range but you cant buy the f-89C without owning the B variant beforehand

I am infact quite new to jets as a whole, thats why I was considering the F-89B as a kind of middle ground which would still be able to get me all the way to top tier

Eventhough it has powerful cannons, if you are not used to flying jets then you likely won't know how to use them. The F89D is frowned upon a bit because it's weaponry is unrealistic and too easy to use. Exactly what makes it suitable for someone not used to jets. You need to buy the F89B first before you can get the D. The D itself is only half the cost of the B anyways and there probably is a Golden Eagle discount coming from December 24th until after Christmas. If that is the case then you can pick up the pair for under 6000 GE which is about 30$. All up to you of course, watch some reviews I'd say or watch my playlist with (mostly sim) gameplay. Whatever you do, don't try to dogfight with any of the F-89's... Edited December 20, 2021 by El Bananito@live

I have 2000 or so GE lying around anyways so I’ll definitely consider that!

Yeah then you can consider just buying the 5k GE if the discount happens again this year and buy the pair. Too bad the AV8 and F5C are packs. It sounds counterintuitive but if you suck with the F89D in AB and RB then Sim is a lot easier. Lotsa AI aircraft to shoot down or player bombers thinking they got the airspace to themselves. You'll have the radar to give some visual help when you get up close and the air proximity rockets make it hard to miss!

White_Baron21 1 Report post Posted January 8, 2022 Personally I would get the F-5C but don't buy it unless you a pretty confident with using guns against other players that have aam missiles. The explanation for this is because the air to air missiles on the F-5C are not that great (I don't know the precise reason why but someone else might know that). Getting the F-5C over some of the lower tier premium jets means you can grind past 9.3 as well which I am sure will be your next step after you have researched everything up to 9.3. But like @magazine2 said, it might not be a good option unless you know your way around a jet.
