"dead" aircraft do not create splash when hitting water

# I have:

# Game version

My game version: (2.13.0.53)

# Platform

2018 Macbook Pro running MacOS Catalina

# Description

Planes that are considered "dead" (either a pilot kill, or the plane has been considered a "kill" or "crash" by the game, even if still under the control of the pilot) do not create splashes or any splash sound effect when they hit water, in contrast to a "live" plane crashing into water.

# Steps to reproduce the issue

  1. Start any mission

  2. Shoot down any plane over water (either a pilot kill, or just a plane that is considered "dead")

  3. Observe lack of splash in comparison to a "live" plane crashing into water, and lack of any noise effect when the "dead" plane hits water.

# Additional Information

# Files

You must attach these files:

  • Screenshots taken using the in-game functionality [Windows, Linux, Mac]

    • "Dead" plane crash below:

      • 874395465_ScreenShot2022-01-06at8_36_19P

    • "Live" plane crash below:

  • Replay or link to server replay (.wrpl or URL) with timestamp [All platforms]

    • 1:20:00 to 2:00:00 - AI G4M bombers crash into water while still "live", displaying the proper splash

    • 2:34:00 - I shoot down a B5N, killing the pilot and rendering the plane "dead": when it hits water, there is no splash, and no splash sound effect.

    • 3:53:00 - I shoot down a A6M, rendering it "dead", and so no splash graphic or sound effect is created when it hits water.

    • 4:04:00 - A B5N crashes into water while still "live", and so creates a splash.
4:19:00 - Another G4M crashes into water while "live" and makes a splash.

    • 4:55:00 - Another "live" G4M crash.

    • 5:39:00 - I deliberately ram a Ki-43 in such a way that his propellor and my wing are broken. Note the battle log shows that neither of us are considered "dead", and so when my plane (and his plane) hit water, we both still make splashes and a splash sound.

    • 6:45:00 - A Ki-43 with a broken engine crashes into water, and since the plane is still considered "live" it makes a splash.

    • 7:06:00 to 7:49:00 - Three different Ki-43s are shot down and rendered "dead" before the plane hits water, meaning none of them create splashes or splash sounds.

    • 8:16:00 - A6M shot down, rendered "dead" before hitting water, no splash or sound effect.

    • 8:22:00 - Ki-43 crash lands in water while still "live", makes a splash and sound effect.

    • 8:41:00 - A6M shot down, "killed" before hitting water, no splash.

    • 8:58:00 - I shoot the wingtip off a A6M, rendering the plane not controllable, but the plane has not been considered "dead" by the game yet, and so when it hits water, there is a splash and splash sound effect.

    • 9:30:00 - Another A6M shot down, rendered "dead", no splash.

    • 10:50:00 - My wing is shot off and my plane rendered "dead", despite my pilot still being alive and in control of the plane (to a degree), and so there is no proper splash or splash sound when I hit water.

      • These are all best understood by looking at the battle log, which shows when a plane is actually considered "dead".
