Question about Vikhr Dueling (Ka-50, Ka-52, Mi-28NM)

Lately I had picked up a habit of dueling other Vikhr helicopters in heli EC. With the Ka-52 I have right now I can quite manage to down several Ka-50 (and of course the lesser helis, but I am refraining from that unless it's crucial to objective or threatens me) while being able to duel Ka-52s one on one.

 

However, I have noticed that other players (esp those in Ka-52s and Mi-28NMs) were quite able to outrange my Vikhr. We both start dueling at around ~9.5km range and while my missile didn't reach to them, theirs did. It's frustrating me to know more about how Vikhr works and how people successfully use them in duels. 

 

Also, sometimes when I track enemy targets, I cannot maintain lock and often loses lock soon after I fired a Vikhr. Sometimes I can't even track the target myself and has to rely on the sight stabilizer. Why would that happen?

i have the answer but because your a vikhr player you can keep strugling

Most likely the players outranging you are firing their Vikhrs from higher altitude , which allows them to reach max range.

now that they removed pvp i can tell you who to do it you just have to get just under 10km of the enemy fire your missile and then back of out of his range
