i am grinding down the chinese line and im currently at rank 4 in ground forces. i was wondering if anybody could give some opinions on the light tank line as i've seen people say the line isn't worth it and should skip it although im not certain (as i want to save myself from the long grind of extra vehicles) since the m41d is "bad" also the cm11 doesn't look that good

Cm11 is not worth it.Not only light tanks, China has a very rich number of tank vehicles in reality, and most modern tank vehicles are self-developed. But it is frustrating that this is not reflected in the game. Chinese tech tree tree should be paid enough attention. This is also a new economic growth point for game companies.

Stop grind the first line. Almost all of them(rank V and VI) are not good.

 by my opinions, u can just dont grind the first roc line, maybe it will be buffed by may be cm25 or m1a2t, but actully, hope the ztz99a vt4 or ztq15,vt5 is more possible, i think through the recent even u can see them when u finish the CN tech tree

Ok I guess I'll stop but I will buy the type 62 (just not the crew training) so I can get to the next rank although I can't say I'm a big fan of the use. The long reload is fine (bit troublesome a little) but I feel like the second use armour is bad? Though the wiki says it's almost impenetrable on the ufp

ZTZ99 II-III are very good tanks.. very survivable even.. many dont know how to shoot them. good thermals.. i hate the optics thoe.. horrible zoom..  good pen round, as fast as T72B3..  cool camos.. but they are way to expensive in repairs.. and china needs a 11.0 tank... 7.1 sec reload set is REALLY rough at top tier when many has aced or experts crews. they out load you.. its frustrating.

so is the type 62 any good? i probably wont grind after that but i am wondering if the type 62 is any good

Oh yes, both 63 and type 62 are quire excellent, defo worth trying out if you like light tanks. 
When it comes down to the first line though, I would not consider grinding it past rank V, the M41D at rank VI and 8.0 KILLS the whole line, it is just a massive pain to play. I have spaded it because I wanted that RP bonus ( PAIN) but you can just wait for a sale and put a talisman on the PTL-02 (entirely worth it) and get 8.7s relatively quickly.

The saddest thing is the absolute lack of IFVs, even though China has a ton of domestic IFVs. Such as the ZBD 2000, ZBD 05, ZBD 05/105, ZBD 03, ZBD 04, Type 63A and many more. Norinco made a ton. Along with 155mm howitzer tanks such as the PLZ 45, PLZ 07 that are extremely fun niche vehicles as seen with the Russian, Sweden and Japanese additions of 155mm artillery. There's so many more vehicles and every single one of these vehicles had multiple variants on top. And these aren't even the MBTs, or the EXPORT variants! 

 

The Chinese tree could be as fleshed out as the German one if Gaijin put in the effort, and I grind them with hope since it has so much potential to be a SUPER FUN tree.
