Really? Look at the optics, the thermals, the mobility, the ammunition it can shoot. Does this really deserve to be this low, clubbing everything in its br range from across the map? Just because it's a premium? Or is it something else. And no, other ifvs at this br are also susceptible to 50cals so that's not an explanation.

Gaijin likes to balance off of statistics. Premiums allow anyone, regardless of game skill/playtime, to access that certain BR range. So, players with less skill or game sense will drive the WMA, tank it's stats, and as a result, render it less likely to receive balance adjustments.

Mobility is utter dogpoo for a wheeled IFV, easily the worst out there together with the PL02. Try them in the snow if you want. .30 cals go through the armor like butter and also the gun depression is really bad. Gun handling is abysmal, especially the vertical pane when on the move. It is a very map dependent vehicle and strangely enough, I do with it better in full uptiers than in full downtiers.

- Bad terrain mobility

- Terrible reverse

- 3 crew members on turret (constant OHK)

- .50 cal to kill it and lesser MGs can kill crew

 

It is a huge glass canon and that's it. It is very good at longe range maps and awful on CQB. It stats are on pair with most 8.3 MBTs. Can't see why it should go up.

 

What keep this tank stats OK are the (few) good CN players.

I'm with you.  On paper, the OP is absolutely right.  The WMA and PTL look like absolute monsters.  In practice, things are very different.

You aren't the craftsman in this case, nor should you be making excuses on Gaijins behalf.

Alot of people consider their method of balancing absolute dogshit, they probably (hopefully) know it too, they just don't care.

You missed my point with that.
I was suggesting that they are capable of making balance adjustments regularly, but the system in which they do it is not good.

This is not a defense of the system. The fault is mine for poor wording.

It's still too good a vehicle to be kept at 8.3, especially PTL02 which is at 8.0.  

I recommend you don't try to compare vehicles with stats as many already know what a bad idea that is and how it's destroying the game.

Ok, then what you'd recommend me to do? Play other 8.3 tanks from other nations? Cuz I alread did.

 

And if you ask me, Type 89 + Type 87 RCV is the best 8.3 combo. Far superior than WMA and PTL (and Type 87 not even has thermals).

 

I honestly can't remember a game against a chinese team where a WMA or PTL rly made a difference. Most are gone within 5min of game (or less).

 

Don't get me wrong. Both WMA and PTL have great mods (APFSDS, 2nd Gen thermals), but that doesn't mean they are OP.

Isn't it because most of the WMA301 players will be players who bought the vehicle when they have no experience in the game and that very few PTL02 are seen in the game since it is Chinese a copy nation and they will be taking vehicles out for premiums?

Other IFVs counter this thing hard, especially on CQC maps, it's big, thin and not the fastest in reaction speed.

You can have good/amazing games in any vehicle in this game, that doesn't make the vehicle good. You can have 10+ kill games with the PTL02/WMA301, but the chances of you dying after one kill because of all the downsides of the vehicle are much greater than doing good with it. I think 8.0-8.3 is the perfect range for those two, anything higher and they become useless with their hampered mobility and size compared to modern MBTs & IFVs you start seeing.

WMA301 BR can be seriously discussed whether to move to 8.7 or not.
But there is no reason for the PTL02 to keep it at 8.0, I don't want to go into details.

This cannot be a German M48 with 0.3 minus.

Bleh, I stopped using the PTL02 when I moved to 8.7, the weaknesses of the thing is far too annoying to deal with than to just use the other tanks, it's super OP at 8.0 because it has a good dart and tech, but it will become complete trash once you start moving it up.

its really nice to grind 7.3 germany ( i have leopard 1 and ru 251 , soon unlocking marder ) , i have no thermals , no stabilizer, no apfsds , i have no problem killing other tanks except ptl02 and wma301 , and people say that its not op

7.3 uptiers, especially in something as thin as a Leopard I is hell when you're facing down T-55A/AMs, PTLs/WMAs and the PT-76-57.

Ye but what else can you do.

Im spading 7.7 Swedish atm and i swear to god it't the most miserable experience i have ever had in warthunder... Ever... of all time. PTLs,WMAs. T55AMs and IT-1s are my worst enemies. IT-1s are atleast easy to destroy if they show a bit of hull. But T55AMs are frontally impenetrable to L7 APDS (yes i know you can pen the gun mantlet but try to do so in an unstabilized tank when you meet one on the move). 

And PTLs/WMAs can just outspot you, out run you, out gun you, and APDS tends to do pis* poor damage on them. And so im left to suffer because i want to grind out further.
