WarWolfFritz 12 Report post Posted June 15, 2022 (edited) So with the upcoming update 'Danger Zone', we know that there's the ZTZ99A coming in as the new MBT as the highlight for ground top tier. Great, and that's the entire reason why I ground out the ZTZ99s to begin with. So, what did I think of it? Firstly, when stock grinding the ZTZ96->99 III, I would highly recommend HE (personal opinion) since the 125mm HE is typically potent for overpressuring. Now, you'll definitely struggle against MBTs - specifically the Merkavas. For some funny reason, I have a hard time overpressuring them. Aside from that, the ZTZ96A Prototype actually performs pretty well as a backup at top tier, believe it or not. As someone who pretty much stuck to the major trees for the last what- 2-3 years(?) I'd have to say aside from the copy-paste aspect of the Chinese ground tech tree, it's pretty much a blast. For the unfortunate people who didn't get their hands on the T-69 II G, it's absolutely great even at 9.3-9.7 if you play smart with it. Pair that with the WMA 301 and you'll literally blaze through the copy paste in no-time lol. (My lineup was essentially the T-69 II G, ZTZ69, ZTZ59, and the WMA 301. Which to be fair, is expected to finish off with pretty good results). Also to you ZTZ96A Prototype players, for the love of God turn your IR dazzlers off when you're in those night battles I did get quite a bit of backlash for choosing to grind China of all ground trees since people consider it as "just another Russia", however that really isn't the case. If you compared the T-72 or the T-80's armor, hulls and turrets to the ZTZ99s, you'll see that, for some reason, the armor display isn't exactly showing the same uh... colors as the T-72B3 despite having almost identical armor dimensions (Please correct me if I'm wrong). Sure, I admit, they're based off the Russian tanks, especially early on, but the Chinese did work on developing their vehicles according to their requirements and needs. Firstly, the ZTZ99s are narrower than that of the Russian counterparts, nonetheless, they're less armored (yet heavier). Now it kind of ends there since the ZTZ99A throws that kind of thought process into the bin since the 99A's reverse gear absolutely dunks on the T-72 and T-80. However, the ingame performance will speak for itself- nonetheless, I'm excited to get my hands on it. In all seriousness, I could definitely expect finish grinding out the ZTZ99A today, and in that case... I'll keep you all posted. P.S. If and when they get the K1 and K2 Black Panther into the game, you bet that I'm going to grind that out in a heartbeat. Anyways, just wanted to put this out there, peace out and happy hunting.
