The Rosolino Pilo class was a class of eight cacciatorpidiniere (destroyers) built for the Regia Marina during World War I, the Rosolino Pilo class were small (912 tons) and lightly armed.  Definitely not "destroyer" worthy by more modern standards they were in fact re-classed as torpediniera (escorts) in 1929.  During World War II their armament was highly modified and the Regia Marina used them as escort vessels.

As built the Rosolino Pilo class was armed with 4 X 1 - 76mm/40, 2 X 1 - 76mm/40 (in AA mounts) and 4 X 1 - 450mm torpedo tubes.  They were capable of 30 knots and had a small crew of 79.  Post war the vessels had the 76mm guns removed and were re-armed with 5 X 1 - 102/35, 2 X 1 - 40/39,  2 X 1 - 6.5/80, and 4 X 1 450mm torpedo tubes.  At the outset of World War II the Regia Marine deemed these vessels obsolete as destroyers and converted them into  a more suitable convoy escort configuration with 2 X 1 - 102/35, 6 X 1 20/65, and 2 X 1 450mm torpedo tubes.  Some of the vessels were even used post war with the Giuseppe Cesare Abba and Antonio Mosto being converted into minesweepers in the 1950s.

Specifications (as built):

Displacement (max) 912 tons

Length 240ft (73m)

Beam 24ft (7.3m)

Draught 7ft 7in (2.3m)

Power 16,000 HP from 4 Thornycroft boilers mated to 1 Tosi steam turbine

Speed 30 knots

Complement 79

Armament 4 X 1 - 76mm/40, 2 X 1 - 76mm/40 (in AA mounts) and 4 X 1 - 450mm torpedo tubes

For War Thunder I am recommending the Rosolino Pilo in her 1941 configuration:

Mechanically the same as built but with a different armament:

2 X 1 102/35

6 X 1 20/65

2 X 1 450mm torpedo tubes

At this point in time the RN Rosolino Pilo  would have been an escort vessel (corvette, frigate, etc.) and would therefore belong in the Italian Coastal TT.

The Pilo had a busy if unremarkable career.  In World War I she would serve for the entirety of the war.  During the conflict she would damage an Austrian Submarine (U 12) and conduct many raids and counter raids over the 3 years Italy was involved.  An example of which was a raid in early November 1916 when the Pilo was part of a destroyer force that escorted several MAS torpedo boats that launched an attack against the port of Durres.  In between the wars she would do various tasks expected of a destroyer giving faithful if unremarkable service.  In World War 2 the RN Rosolino Pilo  she would conduct several convoy escort missions, occasionally scrapping with British forces with no heavy action.  At the signing of the Armistice she was in Durazzo.   After putting up resistance the ship was eventually captured by the Germans.  However, while escorting a convoy from Albania to Trieste the still Italian crew overwhelmed their German guards and headed for Brindisi.  The violent action to overthrow their German guards resulted in several awards given out to the crew, including 1 Silver Medal of Military Valor, 5 Bronze Medals, and 15 War Crosses.  As part of the Cobelligerant Navy the Pilo conducted 45 escort missions.  After the war she would serve as a minesweeper and would be scrapped in 1958 after over 40 years of effective and honorable service.

Its initial armament of 4 single 76mm/40 main guns, 2 single 76mm AA gun and 4 single torpedo laucnher was quite lackluster as anti-ship destroyer and its AA gun can only be effective on biplanes with single 50KG bombload at most....

IF this kind of ship got added as Bluewater, this one should be placed on BR 2.7 if not 3.0 at highest, on the other hand in its 1941 configuration would make a real good BR 3.0 Destroyer which make HMS Churchill a BIG run for its prime money in its BR 3.0 capability...

One day when Gaijin make BR 3.0 destroyer as the lowest, reserve Destroyer for all nation's navy.. HMS Churchill player needs to be very diligent and highly skilled to survive 1st 5 minute brawl against average 3.3-4.0 battle..
