I wrote another article. It is longer than the previous, and because I still used T-34 as a target, I chose to attach the new article under this already existing topic. The new article is long because there are many pictures. The amount of text is not that great.

Then you must have noticed that quite many German tanks are missing.

so is incomplete...

It is complete because I don't have any plans to re-edit or extend the article. I know it could be larger but I chose to limit the article, so it is very quick and easy read.

If anyone else wants to write a bigger and better article, here are some possibilities to consider:

  • Include all German ground units.
  • Include all ground units.
  • Include all shells.
  • There are so many Soviet / Russian units. Use them all as targets.
  • There are so many ground units of many nations in the game. Use them all.
  • Do analysis from all sides and many angles, instead of just frontal.
  • Do analysis from many distances.

That would be quite laborous. Any volunteers?

well in the first page a guy did that without putting that in a PDF, it had enough information to know where to aim.

Yes, you may compare that to my first article "How to destroy a T-34 ?"  because they both concentrate in the same question: Where to aim?

My second article "Choosing Your Loadout" is all about choosing shells. To make that article readable I limited it to one tank (T-34) as a target, a shot from the front and 300 m distance.

I had done this for the thoughest opponents a few years ago, but it got screwed over by the Armor and Volumetric Shell updates - so i only do it if somebody struggles with a specific tank. Doing a whole Shell-vs-Tank-Wiki is far too much work for how fast the game is changing.

For the T-34 the rule of thumb is that you need at least a 75mm gun (and enough kinetic energy) to penetrate the 45mm hull, as the caliber 75mm will profit from overmatch against it. For the Germans its the "long" 75mm of the Panzer IV (Pz.Gr.39), everything stronger will automatically be able to punch through it - beside that the "stubby" 75mm HEAT "C" is also very good against the frontplate (i used it exessivly in the WW2 Event) - if you can punch through the Hull you automatically can punch through any other weakspot of the T-34 (Turretcheek/Turretring still is the best thing to go for -> killing the gunner).

"Caliber of Gun" divided by "Armorthickness" = Overmatch value              (a value over 1.3 means that you will get overmatch)

Sherman/Panzer IV  75mm divided by 45mm = 1.67 = Overmatch

Zis-30                      57mm divided by 45mm 1.27 = No Overmatch

90/53 M41M   90mm divided by 60mm (T34 STZ) = 1.5 = Overmatch

The biggest exception to that would be the russian 57mm gun mounted at T-34-57 / Zis-30 / Su-57B / Asu-57 -> Shell Normalization.

The issue with a few Russian vehicles at this BR is that they cope with "wiggling about" better than some other nations. Hard to get that weakspot when facing an uptier if the T-34/KV dances on the spot (Germans don't work so well as not quite as snappy with mobility and turret).

Yeah I see all kinda weird little tactics used to game the hitbox software, reminds of the infamous frog hopping gambit all the clan bois would use in Counter Strike back when.   :lol2:

Test Drive is excellent because there is one target T-34 driving approximately 400 m distance from the ring. Stay inside the ring and keep shooting.

It is good that Army Academy exists in this forum, and I mean I really appreciate it.

But then, like in every other forum, all good bits of information gets buried under new posts, and eventually become virtually invisible.

So I thought: Ok, but War Thunder Wiki exists. Write an article, and be happy.

I wonder, does my little article follow all the rules:

Quote

All of the following are prohibited on the War Thunder Wiki: copyrighted materials; offensive or abusive language; materials that promote discrimination at any level; reference to psychotropic or narcotic substances or their use; extremist materials; erotic content; materials violating international law, laws of the Russian Federation and the War Thunder User Agreement.

I mean, my article describes the weak spots of T-34. Is that discrimination?

(Me grinding t34 line) please no

The Russian Brawler medium line is actually pretty fun, no matter what rank your vehicle is.

My max in that SO far is the T-55A (Though I do have the T-55AM-1, purchased AFTER I got my first rank VI tank) and it only gets better from there.
