FCM 12t DCA

I would like to present to you a new tank for the french tech tree, the FCM 12t DCA (or FCM 48 DCA) :

 

The development of tank begins in 1946. It was wanted a light tank of 12 tons which could be transported in an aircraft. In January 1947 the DEFA produced 4 draft versions of the 12-ton air-transportable tank. These tanks are between 10 and 12 tons, have 75mm guns with a velocity ranging from 600m/s to 920m/s. At this stage, the type of turret is also studied. On February 10, 1947 the armament and the type of turret is chosen. It is a light tank of 12 tons air transportable with a 75mm gun in an oscillating turret. The characteristics then established, in April 1947, the production of a prototype was requested from 3 manufacturers: AMX, Batignolles-Châtillon and FCM. A prototype was then requested in 1948 for each manufacturer. The prototypes must be able to accommodate the FL 4 turret which can be armed with a 75mm vo1000, an anti-aircraft turret with four 20mm guns. Although the FCM 12t is one of the first prototypes built, the tank has too many flaws because it was too complex and it was studied too hastily. As a result, AMX wins the market because the hull was better.

 

 

Between 1949 and 1951, the FCM 12t took part in the trials, the hull was built and the SAMM turret with the 20mm guns was installed on the hull.
