Kosher_Locust 120 Report post Posted August 27, 2022 Again keeping it on the light side, and since I play in arcade apologies if some of these maps/ideas are already running about in different modes: All-Star lineups: Above a certain pilot level, let's say 75, you can make a lineup of your favorite planes from any Air Force you own. To keep it real you could only compete against other players who've done the same and the rules on BR ranking apply. Unlimited Games: Again above a certain level of let's say 100 you can make a lineup of anything you want. You also only compete against players who'd done the same, but no BR rankings apply, anything you own goes. Super-Lineups: It would be nice if you have a max of 10 crews but can apply multiple planes per slot, with the same BR ranking system for all the planes so someone doesn't bring a Tomcat to a biplane match. So you start a game and realize you really needed a bomber and only have fighters. No prob, you change a crew's allotment from fighter to bomber. However once shot down either singly or from your backup that crew can't put in any more planes to the match. Then again with some Air Forces not having that many planes that would probably be asking too much. V1's and V2's: More for WWII lineups but rather than these lazy bot planes rolling about you have V1's coming in to hit your airfield, and you need to catch up and knock them down. Or V2's launching from enemy bases, so if you don't get to it soon enough you have a supersonic missile to deal with. Then again not everyone is German and a French V1 squadron is a little silly, but for people saying it's not authentic we have elves reloading our planes in mid-air and complete repairs done at an airfield in under 30 seconds. Riverine maps: Rather than lines of tanks or vehicles you have boats running up rivers, and part of the drive is they can attack your bases and land vehicles along the way. Aircraft carrier maps: Ideally you launch from the carriers, or the carriers replace your bases and you can land/take off from them. It would add a lot more to the fighting with the airfields/bases able to move about and also launch aircraft for defense. Modern Brush War modes: Everyone likes to dogfight but fourth generation and up fighters use radar guided missiles and AMRAAMs can ruin your day without even knowing you were engaged. So the light strike aircraft like a PA-48, Pilatus PC-9, or Cessna A-37 used in modern era dogfighting, or for real craziness some of the improvised planes I've heard of like an ultralight mounted with quad American 180 22LR guns. Hidden AA Sites: AA sites always are predictably along the front lines or an airfield, having some in in camo at strategic sites until you come close would add more variety and lead to your diet. Ejected pilots are vulnerable: In other words a guy a in a chute can be shot/rammed but to keep it humane you lose silver lions when you do. Real world maps: Considering the limits of the game engine and performance they wouldn't be highly detailed but places/cities you recognize. I know we have Berlin and Port Moresby but in air arcade they don't like like any places I recognize. More real airplane camo: It seems early in the game's life there was a market for custom camo's that's largely died down And yeah, a hot pink and blue unrealistic camo isn't desirable, and the WWII Germans have the marking we can not name replaced by a an iron cross or just a simple cross, but real world airplanes that flew could become a thing again. Real world customization: Again a topic likely to irritate the purists but aside from some armament layouts like with the Morko Morane if a plane in the same series was fitted with different engines or other equipment we don't see those as options. High Altitude maps: Not the Guiana Highlands one but maps that start out at 20,000 feet for the high altitude bombers and fighters. Radios are actually useful: Aside from that one guy always hitting the "attention to the designated grid zone" button or the same 2 voices talking about how we need to try harder to win the radios convey meaningful information like the base is under attack or you have x-number of planes left among your players or similar. Or you could have the hidden anti-aircraft batteries above and activate them by a radio command when in range. Favorite/Backlisted competitors: It kind of got me one of the recent changes was letting players anonymize their names--we know who that would apply to, but honestly it doesn't seem very popular. Still, being able to select "that guy was a challenge, I'd like to play against him again if he's around" or the other way "I never want to see this dude on a map again" options would help a lot in how the game runs. And yes, I wouldn't mind getting matched up against players who can put up a stiff fight. Saving civilians: Rather than bases you have cities under attack, you get credit for how many bombs/attacks you stopped and therefore how many civilians you saved. I would imagine this being just by the numbers as opposed to giving bad guys opportunities for strafing runs. Headquarters and/or generals: Would probably apply more to ground based maps but in addition to an airbase there's a command HQ or general's bunker. Taking it out means slower repairs and less coordination from your automated defenses or ground forces. World War One and airships: Yes the game should go back in time earlier than the 1930's and bring us WW1 combat and fights against zeppelins. Each rank has it's playing style and challenges, but they'd either need to redo the BR ranking or set the planes on tenths--early biplanes are BR 0.1 and so on.
