# Description

Chinese 105mm gun mounted vehicles are able to fire 105mm Anti-Concrete shell BTM-1, which is perform like APBC shell with HE explosive filler. 

Create penetration and high explosive post-pen damage, along with over-pressure. 

 

I suggest this shell here to make these vehicles more attractive and competitive.

 JHL-2:  JHL means   J（聚，聚集，Poly/composite/compound），H（黑，black, 黑索金炸药，Hexogen，RDX），L（铝，铝粉，aluminum powder）.   

So it is a composite of RDX and aluminium powder, and some additives.

JHL is called Poly black aluminum explosive

 

 

 

 

According to the paper

In this paper, it indicates JHL-2 is mixed by 65.5% RDX, 30% AI powder and 4.5% additives. 

The explosive heat(Q) value of JHL-2 is 7510 J/g.  

 

According to this paper

The average explosive heat(Q) value of TNT is 4170.878 J/g.   

Use JHL-2 's Q value divided by TNT's Q, 7510/4170.878 is 1.8 times TNT equivalence.

 

The explosive filler is 1.5kg JHL-2, then the TNT equivalent is 2.7kg.

 

 

For structure:

 

BTM-1 is made by warhead, fuze, primer，propellant，cartridge.  No Tracer mentioned.

 

Warhead is made by Ballistic Cap, p rojectile body，JHL-2 filler,etc.

 

So the round could be treated as APBC with explosive filler in game and calculate the penetration by DeMarr Formula.

The function also describes BTM-1 has both kinetic penetration and high explosive damage.

And it could penetrate 1-meter-thickness reinforced concrete target within 1500m.

If take muzzle velocity of 803m/s from Norinco brochure, BTM-1 could penetrate 135mm with 1.5kg filler, around 2.7 kg TNT equivalence.
