Zucc_Boi 656 Report post Posted October 24, 2022 Just entered a match in arcade after a long time and all bombs that dropped on me had no warning. As soon as they hit the ground, they exploded. They used to have a few seconds of delay before. Was it changed? Also noticed that artillery shells now travel horizontally, rather than drop from above. Is that also normal now? Valcour 1,141 Report post Posted October 24, 2022 I think the delay on a bomb fuse starts when it is released. If the dropping plane is high enough that timer will run out and it explodes on impact.
GhostSoph@psn 2,213 Report post Posted October 26, 2022 If i manage to keep my bomber horizontal and survive to drop the bomb it will explode on impact or close to it... If i dive into the target, the bomb will take some seconds to explode...not sure how many seconds...but i can see it as a red marker on the ground... Some time ago the bombs would also "whistle", but i rarely hear this now... Not sure what you mean with horizontal artillery...haven't seen it yet... Dodo_Dud 5,074 Report post Posted October 26, 2022 As far as I can think back, bombs from low altitude had a delay while those from high had not. So Valcour's theory could be right or it is related to drop altitude.

I agree...i just think the delay was the same for all bombs (i even recall seeing a number)...but physics had an effect as the delay started when the bomb LEFT THE PLANE...so the fall time would count, and bombs dropped from higher up would be less time "waiting" in the ground... I wasn't disputing the theory...just adding some context...

If you drop from high altitude the delay is over, or almost, bomb will explode pretty much on impact, if you drop from low altitude, the bombs just sit there until delay is over.
_grampaw_itchee_ 102 Report post Posted October 31, 2022 Something changed in the last few weeks in regards to bombs in AB. Typically I would use assault fuse and bombs would explode on impact either from high alt or low alt. After the change with assault fuse still selected, there would be a delay of up to 2 seconds when dropping from low alt. Changing the fuse setting to 0.0 has returned the bombs to their expected behaviour which is exploding on impact.

AFAIK setting fuses in AB would do nothing...and i tried in the past (a couple years ago i admit). The fuses would only apply in RB to the aircraft (and weapons) you own. AB aircraft would be "given" randomly to you...with a preset fuse of about 10s or so...at least it used to work like this... Will check again... _grampaw_itchee_ 102 Report post Posted November 2, 2022 Feel free to check, but I assure you setting the fuse delay to 0.0 has had the desired effect. That is, no delay and bombs explode on impact as opposed to assault fuse which used to work that way but no longer does. You'll only notice this at low alt bombing. I don't think you can set fuses in ground AB. And this thread is about ground AB.
