Nor is it 100% foolproof in my experience using them either

Check it after the update and you will see, the burn time and acceleration is unlike any missile in game .

Not really, the last time the in game code was checked on it it had 2 seconds of initial booster time over the other Helicopter AAMs (4 seconds vs 2 for most) with the same average sustainer booster time (6 seconds). Initial Impulse was around 4,600N is 3,400N for the FIM and a little less for other missiles save of the Mistral which had 7,000N.

Roughly checking it in test flight the burn time is about the same as the Stinger, acceleration isn't crazy over other AAMs either.

Yes it should. Its about time a small air to air missile was added that wasn't artificially nerfed into oblivion (manpads) cough cough. It turns out modern ir missiles can actually hit something that's not 2 feet in front of it

jokes on you type91 missile will miss even at that range because gaijin~

why there is data on how much drag the missile has?

edit: i mostly looking for post apex and before apex differences

If you can really test it, use the same method to flare a Lima, cut down your AB and force it to sideshoot. Tested it with Phantom (with AB) and Skyhwak (without AB). Works for me 10/10
Even without flares, you can still kinetically defeat it. I've done with my F105 many times.
Just aam tricks most ground rb players don't pay attention to:dntknw:

Tested again
Little tricky this time.
It has a dual-band seeker, so not only track your engine signal but also your fuselage.

You have to maneuver and flare precisely to fool the seeker (very similar to real life counter maneuvers).

In terms of using flares, your best choice is to do a hard turn, then flare multiple times (3-4 in my test, using flare reinforced setup) to make a flare cloud to cover your whole fuselage. Roll to the opposite direction, exit, you will see the missile now track flares.

You can see my screenshots, missiles were tracking flares not me.

BTW, its way much easier to dodge it kinetically. It's a 20G missile after all, any sudden rolling maneuver can defeat it, especially in a headon.

Regardless of how it should perform irl, brace yourself for an inevitable stealth nerf simply because people hate it so much. (the reason why is because its mounted on the premium z19e) if it wasnt for that no one would know the missile even existed in game. Thats the effect premium vehicles have in warthunder, they make people hate that certain vehicle and everything mounted on it.

Anyone else notice a drop in lethality against aircraft after patch? Get a lot more crits and less kills now. Even chopppers are tanking ty90 with hardly any damage. Just last match i smacked a premium apache in the face with ty90 and it did nothing to him. They also eat flares; worst ty90 has ever been

Is it just me or are ty90s significantly worse than they used to be? specifically in the tracking, it feels how aim9L used to be, before it was fixed for aircraft where it would overcompensate for target movement and try to pull a maneuver well over its 20g limit at the last possible second. And just overall tracks less aggressively/efficiently. The flare resistance is also pretty mediocre, but thats every manpad at the moment thanks to the blanket nerf. Oh, and all aam's got damage nerfed so even less effective. I have a way better kd ratio in the z19 at a higher br pre nerf than I do using the z9 at a lower br post nerf.

Im going to xxxx*king lose it if one more ty90 eats flares on a ka50. Its already beyond unrealistic and pathetic that a modern ir seeker which is horrifically modeled cant hit a ka50 after 5 attempts. He then proceeds to rearm at base this whole time and shoots me down with a vikhr. What I said would happen has come to pass, ty90 would get nerfed as a direct result of it being on the spammed premium z19 which caused an outcry to nerf it. The problem with fire and forget is either it works or it doesn't. Currently ty90 is useless against any helicopter with maw. Even rockets and other missiles will dupe the seeker . Not only is the tracking worse the seeker is like an aim9L from the 70s. Locking heli from a max of 1.2km on a desert map no less. Oh and guess what manpad has the best flare rejection? You guessed it, the russian igla. Its all just gaijins fantasy flavor of the month nerf and buff rollercoaster we've come to expect from ir guided munitions
