Is there a way to make Gaijin's War Thunder compatible with Steam without redownload

Hello friends.

Like the title said. I uninstalled WT From steam because it had the option to play with low quality assets (13 gb) and I wanted to free some space.

However it is redundant as  I have it downloaded months forward. But I never bothered to download Steam War Thunder again.

Until today, I wanted to use some remaining Steam Wallet moneys to buy a premium pack, in steam. However I reading complaints about people not getting their vehicles and rewards...

Apparently you need to have Steam War Thunder to be able to buy premium packs? So I want switch so I could buy.

But I don't want to download 48 GB again, it takes forever with my internet.

So is there a way to not redownload? Perhaps convert WT to steam?

Add WT to your Steam Library.

Start Downloading and pause it (so Steam create proper WT directory).

Copy all the files from your War Thunder directory straight into Steam War Thunder directory.

Restart steam. It should check files and download what's missing.

I have done what you said, but now it is downloading and I have two War Thunder folders in steamapps/common
How to solve?

Hello, I hope that it’s fine commenting on an older thread.

 

I’ve downloaded steam, and simply used the option “add non steam game to library”. If I start the game without steam running, there’s no option for a “steam login”, however if you launch through steam, you can logon after the game opens using the steam option. This should allow you to use your steam wallet when accessing the store in game.
