Stock countermeasures on jets - discussion topic

  1. 1. How should countermeasures be handled on stock jets?

    • Research point reduction - Amount of research required for countermeasures reduced by 75%

    • Fully available on stock aircraft - Amount of countermeasures not reduced

    • Available on stock aircraft - Amount of countermeasures reduced by 50%

    • Leave as is right now - no reduction, no countermeasures on stock plane

Recently I unlocked few of new jets and decided to take them for a spin

But each one I have flown, same issue happens. No flares.

And in such missile saturated battlefield, they really are necessary (with AIM-9Ls roaming in BRs as low as 9.0 [A-6E in downtier, it's possible])

 

So I decided to make poll here to hear out your opinion, should countermeasures receive the RP reduction like FPE and Parts on tanks did few years back?

As more and more modern jets are added, their stock missiles are also improving (Event Tornado for example has two stock AIM-9Ls) however you still have to research the countermeasures.

We already approached the point where flares are absolutely necessary for survival in jet combat and in my opinion this elephant in the room needs addressing.

How many of you immediately GE research the flares when you play a new aircraft at top tier?

I know I usually do, and Gaijin wants us to certainly because $$$.

 

I would take any system over the current implementation, stock 50% CM would be my preference and there is precedent for it with the stock missile additions.

Gaijin should do a system where they atleast give 50% for flares, I'm okay with no chaff, because you can atleast notch, go cold, or dive against radar missiles and use ground clutter.

 

However, there's nothing anyone can do against AIM-9L, Magic 2, or R-60M if they're stock. It means instant return to hangar.

I died 14 times with the MiG-29 before researching the countermeasures modification and almost lost my mind in that time, so I think the current situation with the popularization of all-aspect missiles makes it almost impossible to play without this modification.

 

I vote for half stock countermeasures, I think that's fair enough.

Half stock and if not a significant rp drop enough to be able to get them within 3 or 4 battles at least.

It's the same logic as having to grind out the Parts and FPE for ground vehicles. Unless you're lucky enough to have people willing to repair/knock out fires, your only other option is to sit in a cap, pay for the unlock or suffer through enough games until you achieve enough points to unlock.

 

Unfortunately, in the upper tiers the lack of parts/PFE or countermeasures becomes even a bigger issue for basic game enjoyment.

Which is currently in Gaijin hands?

As long as desperate people will buy GE to unlock flares Gaijin wont do anything about it to secure they profits and i bet they are huge... considering everyone from my clan buys GE for unlocking flares for top tier jets rank 8 cuz its impossible to play without em. And my clan is just a little sample from thousands of players... 

 

Countermeasures (especially in tier 8) are much more important compared to stock missiles, and therefore they should have come with plane already researched !!!!!!!!!!!

Right, but that wasn't the point I was making.

 

As everyone is pointing out, it's a huge money maker for Gaijin so they'll never change it.

Why didn't they make the same about tanks then? It's pure balance with others types of vehicules.

 

And i'm not agreeing with you on 2nd part.

As some have stated….money being the operative motive. When we were flying WWII aircraft, the issue wasn’t as obvious. Tankers started to notice it early on, as the bigger vehicles came into play. 
Go into battle without Parts/FPE? Ridiculous! The threads are several years old now, and there was at least a slight change to the research of those mods. 
Now here we are, for some time already, with missiles, and a stock plane that can’t counter them. 
@TyphoonCro…you should have just went for AI aircraft at the beginning. Let your team get out in front, and stay back, pick off a few aircraft, head back to base. Throw in a few air assault games to help speed things up. Horrible that one has to play that way just to get viable with a new aircraft, but we all know how GJ works

Additional options, such as BOL pods or additional chaff pods will remain available by module research.
