Thank you for WWM!

Just a general Thank you! to the Devs and Gaijin for bringing the WWM back.

I had a great time with some intense battles and diverse challenges, I really, really enjoyed that.

Our Squad played both sides and both had their strong and weak points, but overall it was a great event.

Also, thanks to everyone who joined the Squadron for those events!

I had an awesome time :)

  • Stona_WT changed the title to Thank you for WWM!

A someone who stayed away from ground RB for the last half year mostly due to ODL players, i really enjoyed playing every match in WW mode to the very end.

So, good and bad:

Good:
1) Good rule changes. I've mixed feelings about the 10-minute wait for randos thing, as it does give a significant early advantage to bigger, more organized squadrons, but if the operation doesn't allow too much of an advantage to be gained in those first 10 minutes it's fine. The entry fee to command was a necessary change too, I think, even if it did close off content to much of the playerbase without some kind of practice mode.

2) Solid matchmaking. Everything basically worked right here this time. You could have people drop squad to hangar and get them back in, you could roll in a ten-man squad, which was great, you could invite, add and drop people throughout an operation without any real hassle. Queueing times weren't terrible.
3) Rewards. Rewards for SL and GE were commensurate with the effort, for both commanders and players. RP was quite good if you used +10% or +15% boosters and the premiums on the vehicle list as much as you could.

4) Maps. New and different maps were great.
5) Formats. The new double-cap Onslaught format was good fun, and the convoy missions weren't terribly unbalanced anymore. Addition of a timer was nice.

Bad:
1) Rewards. I'm in the minority in thinking if you're gonna make this mode work, do small regular offerings like this, not full seasons, and don't offer vehicles, which will mess up the incentivization here big time I suspect. Buttttt... you have to offer something more than a once-daily consumable box to actually encourage participation. I would even have settled for keys to SL lootboxes for playing in a won operation where you personally made more than 5,000 cumulative score in that operation, for instance. A historical decal. A custom camo. A title. A profile pic. Something.
2) Marketing fails. When the first weekend got cancelled, the marketing to let people know about the reschedule in a way people could find out about it was really lacking, I thought. The original news item was also a couple days too late for a Thursday start. People needed time to organize their groups for this.
3) Lack of any alliance chat. It's not so much for coordination, as telling people where to coordinate, letting randoes in your operation know what your Discord is, so you can invite them in, things like that. It might not help you in a quick win operation, but it might help you in the next one. You could make it sergeants and up only if you had to to keep it from being a spamfest.
4) Broken WWM Tab in Squadron Info cards. This was a real shame. Big squadrons can help this mode by organizing their own mini events around it, but if there's no internal squadron bragging rights and ways to look up who's doing well that won't work. So losing that this time really reduced the amount people could hype this within their squadrons. The global leaderboards are a total mess too, but a very small number of squadrons and players are ever going to care about those, whereas every small and mid-sized squadron has an interest in retention and growth that was not well served here.

Overall, really good time for those who knew and risked and participated, in terms of mechanics it was probably the most solid yet, but could still be better, in terms of the things that would make people want to play it.

Tired and boring? Someone didn't play it or you'd know it was as said by others GREAT FUN. Drawback is a serious lack of advertising and lead time so people could organise their time accordingly and even know about it. It is far better than regular games with team work, playing together and helping each other makes it far more interesting. Hopefully we'll see more WWM in 3 months, but please, more advertising of it.

Really enjoy having WWM on, the larger tank battle formats it offers( like " Advance to Contact ") are always lovely to experience. Wish I'd been able to try playing one of the " Defense in Depth " missions this time, but surely the next interseason and chance won't be too far away.

Very glad to hear it guys. We also played several dozen matches for the USA and noted a number of points for further improvements.

Haven't even looked at it this time round - concept is tired and boring.

Well... You basically play different arcade game modes. You don't play Naval RB, don't play Air SB, maybe don't play FIFA and GTA. Different games for different people, it's understandable. But it seems strange to come to the topic of discussion of some game and say that you just don't like it.

It's not broken, I just didn't reset the leaderboards between separate launches because it doesn't seem to make any sense. During the season, the leaderboards are the same for 8 launches of operations, why now they have to be reset after one?

I'd rather lure in more players when we get to some serious level in terms of quality and quantity of content. We need time to add new mission modes, new mechanics, balancing operations, some optimizations and improvements in the client-server part. Those who like WWM right now are already participating in it with pleasure, and a little later we will try to invite others to join it.

No it's broken. This is the Nordwind player leaderboard.

This is the same info on my squadron card. I started in a new squadron between events, so this would only be Nordwind stuff. As you can see, nothing was recorded.

The 112th person on the list above didn't change squadrons and is in a different squadron altogether, and I also happen to know they didn't play in the previous event, but played right to the end of this one. This is the squadron card info for #112, which shows they have a score of 3797 in this event on the global leaderboard, and a score of 128 on their squadron card.:

It appears someone flipped a switch somewhere for the Squadron-specific leaderboards and they only started to tally data in the last couple hours of Monday morning in Europe, when he was still playing and I wasn't (so it caught his last 2 of 53 battles in this event).

It's the same for all the other people and squadrons I know who played. Except for the last few hours of the event, none of their activity from this event was captured on their Squadron cards. Which is a shame.

Which is a shame.

Let's first understand and only then throw accusations. Especially since now we have not a competitive run, but a test one.

The player leaderboard in the WW main menu shows random player statistics and does not include games for your squadron. This table is not reset by itself and is the same for the entire season. In the Interseason, I can start a new table at any time if someone needs it.

The leaderboard in the squadron only shows games for that squadron and these games are not included in the leaderboard of random players. Game statistics for the squadron is reset when leaving the squadron.
