Francesco Morosini (P431), Raimondo Montecuccoli (P432), Giovanni Dalle Bande Nere (P434), Marcantonio Colonna (P433), Ruggerio Di Lauria (P435), and Domenico Millelire (P436) of the Italian navy. Only two of all seven units are in service now (Thaon Di Revel and Francesco Morosini); the other units are under construction. The PPA is a flexible multi-porpouse class with the possibility to assist in various tasks, from patrolling to first-line combat. The project falls under the naval law of the "Programma Navale per la tutela della capacità marittima della Difesa" (Naval Program for the Protection of the Maritime Capability of the Defense) and the law of stability of 2014 for the purchase of seven new conception ships with an option of three more units. At the start of the project, the units planned were 16, but the number was reduced to 7 plus 3 optional. The units are present in three different versions: Light,Light +, and Full. This class has an unusual shape with a different rostrum to maximize hydrodynamic thurst in order to meet performance requirements. Those units can be fitted with modular platforms to perform a specific mission, and they will also be able to carry RHIB fast boats thanks to a lateral crane and a landing ramp on the stern of the ship. The first unit, the Paolo Thaon Di Revel, was started on May 9, 2017, was launched on June 15, 2019, and entered the Italian navy on March 18, 2022. In August 2022, the ship was employed in the Arab Gulf as the flagship of Operation Agen. She is a light version of the class, but the Italian government said that with Francesco Morosini, she will be brought to the full version. The second one, the Francesco Morosini, was started on February 16, 2018, launched on May 22, 2020, and entered the Italian navy on October 22, 2022. The next one, the Raimondo Montecuccoli, a light plus, will be delivered in May 2023; the fourth one,Giovanni dalle Bande Nere, will be delivered in October 2024; the fifth one, Marcantonio Colonna, will be delivered in April 2024; the sixth one, Ruggero Di Luaria, will be delivered in August 2025; and the sixth one, Domenico Millelire, will be delivered in August 2026. It is unclear if the other 3 optional PPAs (PPA8, PPA9, and PPA 10) will be started  or not. They are also able to carry two SH 90 helicopters or one AW 101 helicopter.
