The RN Andrea Doria is a Battle Rating 6.3 battleship in War Thunder's Italian Bluewater fleet tech tree.  The RN Andrea Doria was built from 1912-1916 and served in the Regia Marina in WW 1, the interwar years, and WW 2 and ultimately was broken up for scrap in 1950.

While the ship received a massive upgrade in the 1930's it did receive minor upgrades in the 1920's that led to the variant we have in game (1930).  During it's upgrades in the 1920's the RN Andrea Doria received a fixed catapult on the forward port side to use the Macchi M.18 floatplane.

Currently, in War Thunder, this floatplane is not available for use on the RN Andrea Doria.  I am proposing the implementation of this aircraft for the battleship.  Floatplanes launched from appropriate warships has been a mechanic in War Thunder for over a year now and they have proved quite useful in the seizing of capture points in Domination type battles.  The lack of this mechanic's availability for the RN Andrea Doria proves detrimental to the ship's use in game.  The Doria, while a capable 6.3 battleship has a relatively slow top speed and therefore rarely has the ability to capture points in a timely manner.  The implementation of the float plane mechanic to the vessel would improve that capability. Furthermore, the ship had the capability in real life and therefore should have it in game.

At this time the Macchi M.18 does not exist in War Thunder.  Briefly the aircraft is a typical 1920's era floatplane.  A biblane with a single pusher engine mounted in between the wings which sit atop the aircraft's boatlike fuselage.  Forward of the wings there is a cockpit and forward of the cockpit there is a weapons position for a trainable Medium Machine Gun.  The aircraft has the following specifications:

Crew: three - pilot, observer, and gunner

Length: 9.75 m (32 ft 0 in)

Wingspan: 15.80 m (51 ft 10 in)

Height: 3.25 m (10 ft 8 in)

Wing area: 45.0 m2 (484 sq ft)

Empty weight: 1,275 kg (2,811 lb)

Gross weight: 1,785 kg (3,935 lb)

Powerplant: 1 × Isotta Fraschini Asso 250 , 186 kW (250 hp)

Maximum speed: 187 km/h (116 mph, 101 kn)

Range: 1,000 km (621 mi, 540 nmi)

Service ceiling: 5,500 m (18,000 ft)

For Armament:

1 × 7.7 mm (.303 in) Vickers machine gun on ring mount in bow

4 × light bombs on underwing racks

While it is not a tremendously capable aircraft it is in a similar state to the Supermarine Walrus already in game.

+1 don't see why they didn't add it already

requires a new model that would only apply to this and a 1930 version of the Cavour class.  But I think it is essential so I agree
