The Crotale system required the development of a specific Hotchkiss-Brandt (Thomson-Brandt) chassis and was mainly used for carrying SAM sites. However these SAM sites might need gun protection in case the missiles failed. Hence a gun-based system reusing the chassis was thought to be needed. At the same time, Renault and CNMP/Hispano-Suiza/ESD consortium had developped a solution using the VAB platform and the TA-20 turret, Panhard used similar systems. Hence a different turret was needed. And one had already been studied by the Thomson-Brandt group : the GTS turret (GIAT/Thomson/SAMM) also known as the SAMM Sabre (not to be mistaken for the Thomson SABRE). Hence came the SYLA system, made to compete against the Renault and Panhard exports.

The Hotchkiss-Brandt chassis reuse the basic P4R chassis. It's a 4x4 drive with a 200hp engine feeding 4 DC alternators (one per wheel). The vehicle being an electric drive, there's no gearbox. The suspension is hydropneumatic, for a smoother ride. Combat weight is 15.8t which gives us a respectable hp/t of 12.65. And a max speed of 70km/h. Not the fastest out there, but it is a SPAA.

The hull is welded steel.

Equipment wise you have a SAMM Sabre/ GTS turret. This is similar to the VAB VADAR GTS with a few modifications. The radar has been removed. However LRF, LLTV and TV tracking are still present. It's not stabilized if you want a stabilized SPAA, I recommend the TTB125 on ERC, the ARX 20 on VBR or the AMX 10 TTB140.

The armament is still 2 GIAT M693/20F2 gun with a provision of 1500 rounds and a belt of 280 rounds engaged in each gun. Common rounds for this gun are APIT (OPIT), HEIT (OMEI) and APDS (OPTSOC). Traverse is 360° at 76°/s while elevation is +83/-8° at 53°/s.

Gunner has a M371 sight (with X1 and X6 sight) and a M520 sight ( x2 and X4)

Commander only has access to the M520 sight (x2 and X4)

TV tracking is done through the M520 sight (the big box on the middle). The M371 is the small rectangular glass window next to it

And you get Smoke launchers as well

Would rather is not get apds until we get other additions to suit the 5.3-5.7 range, I don't see a reason for it being high without apds,

Slower in terms of top speed but much faster in acceleration and in vertical/horizontal traverse with an additional gun that has equivalent damage and fire rate to an r3 t20.

I wanna say it wouldn't be as survivable just because of how well designed the r3 is with 4 crew members, I don't know how many crew members this vehicle has so I could be wrong. Looks to me as if 2 heads are suppose to go in those round bulges in the front of the tank and then one guy in the turret, kinda like a staghound.

I don't about the chassis internal configuration but the turret is maned by 2 crew members and there is 2 guys in the cockpit :
