FriesingCold 7 Report post Posted March 16, 2023 Launch range generally refers to the range the missile travels under ideal conditions, as far as I know, its an entirely arbitrary value created by gaijin to give a general maximum range of the missile. Lock range refers to the range a missile can achieve a lock on a non afterburning target under ideal conditions. the seeker for radar missiles lock ranges can generally increase with altitude, I've seen certain missiles gain a greater lock range than their stat cards states, such as Aim-7F locking out to about 250,000 ft at around 40,000 ft altitude. For active radar homing missiles, such as the Aim-54, the lock range generally refers to the range at which the missile goes active, and the missile can be guided in by itself.
