what is the sense of the keen vision crew skill when you can literally see the red teams vapor trails from 20km away? Hmmm?

It exists so when you're 5km away from an enemy, the game will spite you suddenly and make them disappear :D

true . Nothing like planning an attack on a approaching plane only for them to dissapiear at 5km and appear again at 2.5 km in a location you weren't expecting

Keen Vision is for MARKING enemies (and friendlies) and it has nothing to do with the rendering distance.

In Warthunder we always had the those trails showing planes and we always had "dots" as far away small models of planes you were able to spot.

Is there a reason you most of the time write stuff like you have been here for like one week?

I think they are alright, as just an added "visual" effect, but . . . .
To me, they seem a bit too bright/thick, last too long and appear at too many lower alts. Be nice if they could just dial it back 20 - 30% or so . .  but again, my opinion. It would really be splitting hairs to . . . oh say . .  remove them from prop games or relegate them to high alt bombers in prop games. I mean it seems like a top tier "buff/feature" that got stuck on everything. Jets don't make furballs like these I don't think(don't really play any high tier stuff, so can't really say) so the stuff they do make would be more spread out . .  and top tier uses more overall space anyway, longer engagement & overall ranges and all that. But all that is just a coding nightmare I wouldn't wish on an enemy, so . . . . .  it's not "game breaking" by any means, but seems borderline of a game's challenges(all games do this) that ends up as a petty annoyance.
I can live with it(but I still like the clouds from when Dagor 5.0 was introduced better . . . lol) to each his own . .  have to acknowledge someone worked pretty hard on all of it anyway.

just to **** off asshats like you if you must know. We haven't always had vapor trails as thick as marshmallows in this game. If you must know.

It is like with the dots.

Over the years we had them displayed in a stronger and in a weaker way.

And the vapor trails are not there all the time. Seems to depend on the environmental settings of the specific map. The colder the map, the lower the altitude as it seems.

No CGI

And because Jets create such tails under certain conditions (you should see long tails of passenger jets passing by at high altitude at some days), world got cooler after many planes where grounded after 9/11. Just because those plane created clouds were not there anymore.

And from WW2 there is enough footage from ground, that shows how those big US bomberwings had long white lines behind the planes.

Again, not always but under certain atmospheric conditions they are more present.
