We have passed feedback. As said earlier, we will add more avatars in future.

AFAIK we do not have plans to implement custom avatars into the game (due to ability to abuse it).

 

As far as I can see, this topic has stopped being used to discuss avatars on the forum, and started being used to pour out frustrations and post offopic regarding changes to in-game nicknames.
This is the last warning, another offtopic will lead to closing the topic.

According to Stona, a new spec has been abruptly released that allows all avatars to use only in-game images and also makes signatures unusable.

I really do not like this spec. Why didn't Gaijin notify us before implementing this specification? Custom avatars are especially important on a forum like this, and I feel like this change has taken away a lot of people's individuality.

I personally hope they revert back to the old specs now.

This forum update is really dumb and nobody wanted. At least I have never seen a single complaint about avatars in fourm before.

I've run the same avatar for years (because I liked it) and it also helps me quickly find my own posts within a thread. I'm not interested in the in-game avatars at all, if anything, propagate my forum avatar through to the game.

 

I also don't see the reason for disabling signatures.

 

Personalized avatars and signatures have been a thing on message boards since, well, forever, why do away with them?

I didnt even notice that also signatures are gone, i quite dislike these changes, my poor explosive Rock from Konosuba is gone, i mean i can understand such move, but instead of chaning the PP, just an addition to the Profile screen would have sufficed.

At the VERY least, please bring back signatures. it was just a little cool thing that we had to personalize ourselves and distinguish us from others. All this does is make me feel more like a robot among robots. Bring back the individuality we had please! It made the forums barable!

Edit: Also, what was the point of removing it in the first place?

I'd have understood that when adding the in game options, it set your PFP to default and all you had to do was re-upload your old profile picture, but hard locking it and removing signatures reeks of censorship

Personally I would very much like custom avatars and signatures to be returned. It is a far better way to uniquely identify yourself, compared to hundreds of thousands of people using the same in-game avatar.

Having the in-game avatars, or even just your current one as an option is not a bad idea in itself, but it definitely is if it comes at the expense of custom ones. Also no idea why the signatures had to be nuked due to the avatar change?

+1.  Right now the avatar selection is suddenly reduced to such a shallow pool, that dozens of players will have exactly the same avatar; and where admins and mods will have exactly the same avatars as dozens of others.  (like, for example, @Stona, @TheElite96, @gromvoiny and others, whose unique avy's made them instantly recognisable otherwise)

 

I mean, the absurdity of @gromvoiny's iconic snail now being substituted for the most plain, most uninteresting default player avatar ever must already say enough about this change.

This should be an OPTION, not a forced change without any good reason.

At least they could have made the online player search avatars match the in-game ones as part of this, instead of everyone there having the same one, but nah, too hard I guess.
