Destroying bases: many small bombs vs few big bombs

I guess you learn something new every day, but until now I have always thought it was the total weight of the explosives in the bombs that determined damage to the base. But now I am grinding the new American B-26B bomber and at the beginning I had only 30 tiny 100 lb bombs with the TNT equivalent of 24.5 kg, thus totalling 735 kg. Every base I bombed with them was destroyed instantly. But when I got the bigger bombs with bigger total explosive mass, like over 1,000 kg, I could only remove about half of the base health. So I went back to the tiny bombs and I am again destroying bases at once, I have no idea why.

Is this on Wiki, I must have missed it?

Hmm, but how do I calculate if my smallest bombs are going to be enough to destroy a base in one go compared to bigger bombs? Is there one definite denominator or whatever you call it?

I don't know the propeller base, but for the jet base it cost about 1.4t in RB map/1.5t in SB map. You can roughly estimate, for small bombs, only 1.0 to 1.1t TNT is usually required.

@不是很能抗压 @qpranger

There is some math involved in this.

Basically each base has a certain HP amount, there are also a few BR brackets which have that set to different amounts (and in order to know the HP in your current battle you need to figure out what's the highest BR of that battle). The last factor is the fact that you don't need to do 100% damage to destroy the base (so base_hp - 10%).

Each bomb does a certain amount of damage against bases which is always 100% consistent, that can be calculated through the mission editor if you make a proper mission with variables which will show the DMG done on the screen, so let's say that the 100 lb AN-M30A1 does 1073 points of damage and to destroy one base in 2.3-3.3 bracket you need to deal 6000 points of damage (5400 to destroy), there's also 600 lb H.E. M32 which does 2924 points. Now do the math and you will see how many are required and that it's not about the tonnage.

On wiki there's only this page:

https://wiki.warthunder.com/Enduring_Confrontation#Amount_of_bombs_required_to_destroy_bases_in_Enduring_Confrontation_for_planes

But it might also work in RB. If you press the "Edit source" button you can see the exact values for each bomb and BR brackets.

I learned today about the combo bonus so it was worth to read the thread.

Have in mind that u play with the B26 in Air RB at the critical border to 5.0.

Up to 4.7 base health for non-repawning bases is roughly 0.5 -0.6 tons of TNT, and for respawning bases 0.8-0.9 tons of TNT.

In 5.0 matches you need 0.8-0.9 tons of TNT for non respawning bases and 1.2-1.4 tons of TNT for a respawning base.

So your challenge is to evaluate the highest BR and if the bases are respawning or not.

Basically all maps with 3 bases are non respawning.

In addition you have 4 maps with 4 non-respawning bases:

France 1944

Moscow 1941

Huerrtgen 2nd battle

Operation Iskra

All other bases are respawning.

For me it looks like that the BRs of your matches are the main factor for your confusion....

Thx for sharing this, i was always wondering about this whilst flying the Ju88 A-1 as there was always a kind of feeling there is something wrong with the damage output of the 28x50kg internal bombload compare to the 4 x 250kg external. So in oder to maximize efficiency i damaged the bases with the 250s and finished them with SC50s, now i know why.
