I'm playing several nations at once because I'm crazy

I play on Xbox Series S and while I'm not 100% happy with game performance on this platform, the game is still a lot of fun. I currently play:

  • Germany (3.7)
  • USSR (4.0)
  • France (5.3)
  • Italy (5.3)
  • Japan (5.0)
  • China (4.0)
  • Sweden (4.0)

I got bored with Germany and USSR so I leaned heavily toward nations that have really odd Rank I and Rank II vehicles. I enjoyed Japan, Italy and France quite a lot. This is for realistic battles and I have no aircraft because I don't think I'd be good with planes. The frame rate and 200 ping would ruin aircraft for me I suspect. Maybe if I was rich I'd have a flight stick and move to a country nearer to the servers haha.

Obviously I'm a bit bonkers. I have no goal for War Thunder. I just unlock stuff slowly. I think most players want to unlock the entire tech tree, but I'm too shy to unlock a whole tree, not only because of money but also because of the ping - it's easier to play the WWII vehicles because the turret traverse is slow for everyone. More time to think! If I played Cold War tanks, I might be at a disadvantage because vehicles can move and aim quicker, ping suddenly matters more. Rank III was annoying enough, I'd probably hate Rank IV.

Maybe I'll try and progress again some time, but it'd be cooler if I had better hardware first. I got a 2560x1440 screen in 2017 and didn't even make good use of it until I had Xbox, and then it became apparent just how bad graphics is, especially on this 27 inch screen which has really good colour and detail.

I play all the countries, and have a lot of the tech trees unlocked but I only really play specific lineups for specific BRs for certain countries.

It's what I enjoy and to be honest it's an easy to way to make and retain SL.

I think focus one nation. Finish one nation , go for other.

In the end, don't worry about grinding out any of the tech trees, just play whatever nation or lineup that you enjoy. I switch back and forth where I might play Germany 5.7 lineup, and then move over to Sweden 7.3 line-up.

Ah , grinding are fun and if you start to grinding you got an objective in the game and you gain dopamine hormone. This is my idea

I have no issue with those that want to grind any of the trees.....for me, I've grown tired of having to play a stock tank and getting a map like Fire Arc, and hoping no one shoots at me as I slowly cross 2000m of open ground with no parts or FPE.

I also play all nations at once, and try to keep them all roughly in the same BR level. Currently at 8.3 for all ground vehicles, but pausing while I spade some remaining 8.0 vehicles.

There is a decent variety of vehicles between nations, so alternating between them keeps things fresh, whereas grinding a single nation continuously would get a bit dull. It also helps in learning the strengths & weaknesses of enemy team vehicles if I play them myself.

Yes this is really important. I don't like to get bored, and I like to know how certain tanks handle.

I play all nations as you miss a lot of fun vehicles if you don't.   I find the game for me is more about BR ranges then about tech trees.  I have a lot of vehicles of BR 8 in different trees but I most enjoy the 4.7 to 6.7 range.  I think this is both a function of the characteristics of the warfare in that period and the maps we have are best for those ranges.  Ultimately,  have fun on your terms not the game's or other player's terms.
