Are there any good examples?

Anyone know of any good examples of F2P games that we can look to so far as progression and economy? (Talking about other games here may violate TOS, but figured it's worth a shot) If there was an example of a successful game, with a progression system like War Thunder's, then it might be worth looking into how they're doing it.

Warframe is pretty amazing when it comes to F2P.

Everything in game can be acquired without spending a penny with the exception of some cosmetics.

Even those that are paid are not that expensive, a few £

The paid currency platinum (There version of GE) is pretty cheap and will last you a while, You can also get discount vouchers as a daily login reward either 25% 50% or 75% off Platinum purchases.

Platinum can be traded, so can many of the parts you'd need to farm, and so players can buy and sell things if they want to skip a perticular farm or if you have extras or something you dont want, you can just sell it to another player really easily.

Well, in terms of progression a good example could even be the 2017-18 War Thunder itself.
Even if it was excessively forgiving by that time, I don't think it'd still be true for the time being, since there's been a LOT of new vehicles introduced, most of them at top tiers, needing the most SL and XP to achieve. Even more so, the current economy makes it a challenge to "stay afloat" rather than to "progress", making the game more of a job and less of a pastime.

The argument for the present changes is that "progression speed should be managed" and "a F2P project has to have donations to survive". The speed of progression I personally consider too knee-capped compared to the past as mentioned above, and the donations aspect will be viewed below.

If we exclude "forced donations", when people buy premium account and premium vehicles to simply be able to afford progression, there remain donations based on the will to "speed up" progression or to get something of a particular interest (for a better setup (like Tiger II Sla.16 or Sherman Trzyniec), for collection's sake (like Aces' fighters), or because it's the user's favourite vehicle irl).
Apart from that exists the market, where Gaijin have a share off every sale, and these sales occur constantly. There are already user camouflages introduced with each major update in a designated case, and vehicles like Leopard Pzbtl and M1 "Lodka" proved to be quite popular.
Add to this the fact that a "certain HP-based ground battles game" managed to profit quite nicely from implementing custom visual setups to ground vehicles (specific combinations of battle damage, crates, logs, camouflage nets and so on) and you might see just how popular a similar implementation would appear to be in WT. And we already have such examples in WT, like the aforementioned pack premiums or the soviet IS-2 "321".

Genshin Impact

Honkai Impact 3

Girls frontline

Team Fotress 2

These game why people willing to pay for it and still success? and also you don't need to pay for progress girls frontline for example I have progress and get high end team without spending any money just need time and even that i still enjoy well i did paid for some skin but hey I feel worth the money. so what do we get from this? well if something it worth paying for people willing to pay for it not just force and throw at them and also need to make players enjoy the game on the progressing ways.

I do have issues with that list, specifically Genshin Impact and TF2, with the former being a loot box and story based game with limited MMO aspects, While you can get constellations, the majority of your progress comes from loot and loot boxes. TF2 on the other hand has been neglected by Valve for years, and I don't think it should be used as an example of "What to do with War Thunder" (Although, they do both have a Bot problem)

The other 2 I haven't has much experience with, so I will look into them to see how they do things, Thank you!

While I appreciate the sentiment that 2018 was better, (Heck, I joined in 2017, and now I am loaded for SL), the issue with that comparison it that it's very easy for Gaijin to go "The game has changed since then, new mechanics, different economy, etc." and just ignore all of it.(Especially since 2017 War Thunder was less successful than 2021 War Thunder) I hope that by pointing at bigger games, made by bigger publishers, and going "Look, they do this, and it doesn't suck!" we can build a solid picture of what we (As a whole. All... 5 of us) want the game to be. Also, like, wouldn't hurt to steal from the competition, right?

Thank you anyway!

I lost my screenshots in 2018-2019 War thunder. When i was a kid , im playing this game without premium account and vehicles . I can grind the German tank tree. But now i can't grind with premium account and vehicle. Sadly but its true.
