Ace of the Month Screenshot Competition: Deadline 0900 GMT Friday 25th October

The Ace of the Month feature has now been running since March, and has brought ace biographies, skins, decals and special offers to War Thunder. Now you have the chance to win Golden Eagles by capturing the spirit of these extraordinary aviators with action packed screenshots!

The rules for this competition are slightly different to previous competitions; whilst you still have to try to capture the action and excitement of the game, you now have the additional constraint of keeping things as visually realistic as possible within the following guidelines:

- You may submit two screenshots for each Ace skin in the game; one in each of the two categories. These are:

- Pokryshkin's P-39
- Rector's P-40
- Cork's Sea Hurricane
- Clostermann's Tempest
- Molders' Bf109E

- There will be two categories: War Thunder Screenshots and Modified Screenshots. The first category must come directly from the game, the second category allows you to use software, editing effects and external images to modify or enhance your screenshot. A winner will be selected for each ace in both categories, giving a total of ten separate GE prizes.

- We fully appreciate that it is currently not possible to stage a 100% accurate depiction of combat encounters from these aces' careers using War Thunder. However, the idea is to try your best to illustrate each ace as accurately as possible in your screenshot. We don't expect you to go out and find a full list of every combat encounter each ace flew, but preference will be given to those screenshots which depict a believable encounter. For example, showing Pokryshkin over a Russian map fighting against German aircraft of the Second World War will be far more suitable than showing Pokryshkin fighting over a Pacific Island map against USAF jets.

- Simply post your entries on this thread. The winners will be announced on 25th October and each will be rewarded with 1000 Golden Eagles.

- If you have any further questions or require any clarification, post here and these guidelines will be expanded on to cover any queries.

- Best of luck!

"The first step"s2wl1z.jpg

Reenacted Rector's kill on December 20, 1941.

(Found an article about it here)

Screenshot taken from the game and has not been edited.

(Also, I used tracers, like Rector used too, but somehow in replays they don't show up)

And no more, only have this skin :c

Seems a few people are struggling to find the Molders skin - rather than checking the 109E-3 itself, if you go to your main profile and then check Skins - German, it should hopefully be there. At least it is when I log on; I think it requires 24 AB kills, which much be Hawks, Hurricanes or Spitfires, obviously less for HB and FRB.

The only skin which should be a real problem is the Pokryshkin P-39; I think this was released as a limited edition premium aircraft, so if you didn't get it then (like I didn't :( ) then I don't think there is any way to get it now. If you did, good job - you may well find this part of the competition has a lot less entries!

Thanks for the entries so far - really great stuff!

"On 22 December, Mölders, leading four Bf 109s from III./JG 53, engaged three Hawker Hurricanes over the Saar River, between Metz and Thionville, that were trying to intercept an unidentified aircraft. Mölders and Hans von Hahn shot down two Hurricanes flown by Sergeants R.M. Perry and J. Winn, becoming the first German fighter pilots to shoot down a Hawker Hurricane."

I did my best to recreate this event in War Thunder, having 3 Hurricanes engage with my 4 man flight of Bf 109 E-3s in their III./JG 53 camo. I made sure to get a shot of myself and the AI flying in the finger-four formation, a tactic which Mölders, with the help of other airmen, developed while in Spain. I figured something as iconic as a formation that he developed himself was a great way to portray Mölders.

A bit of history on the 'finger four' formation:

"With other airmen in Spain, Mölders developed the formation known as the "finger-four". This improved the all-round field of vision and combat flexibility of a flight, enhanced mutual protection, and encouraged pilot initiative. In the "finger-four", the aircraft assumed positions corresponding to the fingertips of an outstretched hand. The fighters flew in two elements (Rotten) of two aircraft each; two Rotten (four aircraft) made up a Schwarm."

source for both quotes: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Werner_M%C3%B6lders

So yea, this is my submission for unedited screenshot of Werner Mölders

Looks pretty good, but the Hurricanes are a little too far away for a good actiony shot, methinks. Maybe replicate it with the Hurricanes close enough to see details?

You've got a point... I guess I was so worked up on getting a screenshot to be as historically accurate as possible that I lacked in making it 'actiony' as well, lol  :Ps

I made an imgur account specifficly to show you guys my picture. (taken in movie settings on a 1920x1080 moniter)

It tells me "you're not allowed to use that image extension on this community" when I try to put the picture directly on my forum post.
