DELTACLUSTER 1,734 Report post Posted January 2, 2020 (edited) Hello and welcome to the 2nd Challenger 2 thread in the forums. Unless the thread named directly after the vehicle, this thread is meant to concentrate the amount of informational material that forum users have gathered along with small posts of opinion in a specific fashion. The idea is to create a database for all users interested in Challenger 2 as well as for the Gaijin development team and to provide as much informational material as well as information on bugs and bug reports as possible. If you came around here to discuss the vehicle or voice any opinion on it, the thread of your choice is meant to be this one: This thread is under heavy moderation and will only present the posts it was created for. Posts which do not belong here, will be hidden. So please ensure the efforts you put in your post are not wasted and appear in the correct thread. To ensure the usability of this topic, each post should be marked with a little code in order for users to quickly aid others with information and combining the information of multiple posts. Because of this there are two categories: PCI (Post of Collected Information) and MFS (Micro Feeback Survey). These are there to distinguish between surveys for feedback (which may be hidden after a while) and information necessary for the users. PCI's are every post of informational material on Challenger 2. Such a post is meant to be tagged with "PCI" at the top to identify them. A PCI can be enhanced by other users of course. To ensure the information is linked, please open your new post on the matter with links to all posts you are going to enhance by posting your information to ensure players can easily track the chain of information and use it more efficiently. A MFS is a short lived type of post. They can be posted by everyone, but require a serious and constructive motivation behind them. Primarily, they are meant for individuals of the Gaijin team like @Smin1080p to post information on bugfixes, for example, and get immediate feedback in a brief and concentrated fashion without a discussion which is difficult to follow. Because of this MFS replies are meant to be posted in this fashion: MFS Reply to MFS 1 Topic: Headlamp position fix Opinion: Positive Why: It fixes a mean visual issue which disturbed my enjoyance of the machine. That's it. The explanation (The "why" part) can be a little longer of course, but the main target is to provide a direct feedback in a quick fashion to a directly asked question. NOTE: It is necessary for posters of initial MFS type posts to tag them with a number in order to keep the identification clear (i.e MFS 1 - Bugfix of suspension height). MFS will be hidden after 3 days (this may change) and the result may be collected in a general post. Now let the archives grow! RSanders 714 Report post Posted January 16, 2020 After hearing a certain statement from an old salt down at the REME lad who worked on CR2 when it first came out, anyone who has access to view AESP: “2350-P-102-302 1st edition”, dated April 1998, will have access to the infamous Chapter 15. Chapter 15, of course, containing the armour of the vehicle (both the cosmetic plates and Dorchester package) in full detail. Seems like the government, or whomever contracted the civvie to make the document, royally ballsed up and gave access of official secret, brand spanking new documentation to any joe Tom who asked for it! Get searching, troops.

RoflSeal 8,561 Report post Posted May 18, 2020 (edited) I feel Jane's values are just wrong and based on older information, I mean the page is from 2001, and since then we've had declassified docs that show the length of CHARM projectile (L26A1) at 540mm (from tip to the end of the fins), the weight of the DU penetrator at 4.85kg, the real muzzle velocity of the L23 out of a new barrel in normal temperatures is 1547 m/s, not 1534 m/s. The Haynes books on Challenger 1/2 written recently and by a former tank commander gave the penetration of the L26 as fired from Challenger 1. I assume this is for 60 degrees, which outperforms the ingame Challenger 2's L26 by 40mm. Edited May 18, 2020 by RoflSeal
