Hi and welcome to this suggestion of a spanish naval tree. My friend @Seefelder@psn and I have made some research on the spanish armada and came up with the idea of making a tree for the coastal and bluewater fleet.

I would also thank the member of the WTCP discord channel, they did also a very good research.

The Spanish Navy (Armada Española) was the most powerful maritime force in the world from the 16th century up to the end of the 18th century. In the early 19th century, with the loss of most of its empire, Spain transitioned to a smaller fleet but maintained a shipbuilding industry which produced important technical innovations. The Spanish Navy built and operated one of the first military submarines (Isaac Peral), made important contributions in the development of destroyer warships, and again achieved a first global circumnavigation, this time by an ironclad vessel.

With the historcal background about shipbuilding the Spanish Navy built a lot of unique vessels which you will see below. So we go on and present to you our naval tree for coastal and bluewater fleet.

Since the mid-20th century, the Spanish Navy began a process of reorganization to once again become one of the major navies of the world. As you can see, the spanish Navy is a fearsome one that should not be underestimated.

There is still room for improvments in the trees. I hope you like it. Plese share your thougts and comments below.

As the author of the Canárias suggestion, I can’t recommend this enough, the Spanish Fleet is hardly talked about and has a fascinating history during the Spanish Civil War so would make a fine addition to the game :)

I would definitely consider adding the Portuguese Navy as a branch and perhaps some of the armored/protected cruisers from the early 20th century to bolster the bluewater tree.

At the naval stuff is where spain shines, there are so many ships and special modifications like this. They took a Lazaga class patrol ship and removed the 76 mm gun and put a 12x20mm Meroka turret on it

i'm for it. though it may need to be conglomerated with Portugal into an Iberian tree, and/or (let's face it, absolutely has to) be a subnation within the Italian naval tech tree.

The other option could be both nations being a sub tree in Italy, to help bulk out the tree. However, factoring in the military history of Spain with the Spanish Civil War and the armament build up it had afterwards, I would say having it as it's own nation would be the preffered option

Italy doesn't need a sub tree in their naval tech tree. There are still many Italian battleships, cruisers and destroyers that are waiting to be added to the game. In size, their navy was comparable to the French navy and was way bigger than Germany's and Ussr. Spain should get their own tech tree, obviously after the air tree.

totaly agree on that Italy and France were fighting for the 4th place of the biggest world navies behind UK USA and Japan

Spain could be teir own tree, they would have some C&P sure (mainly for air and ground) but they also made a bunch of their own stuff. Portugal could be a sub nation to them to enlarge it a little bit more, but when it comes to naval Spain is quite impresiv on their own

There are a lot. 1200px-Spanish_frigate_Baleares_(F_71)-0

Like the fregata baleares.

But i did not include them, because they would not fit in the current meta

Another thing that could be looked into is the possibility of having Portuguese Vessels in the tree, can add some assistance in the form of sloops and destroyers to help bulk the tree out
