Rptd: The AMX-10 RC is a recon vehicle, that cannot scout.

Hi everyone.

I would like to draw your attention to the fact that the AMX-10RC main purpose was reconnaissance.

I therefore really think it should be given the ingame ability to scout.

 

The long name of the tank is:

AMX-10RC engin blindé de reconnaissance-feu (recon and fight-back armored vehicle)

A heavily armed reconnaissance craft, capable of long range anti-tank combat, highly mobile on the road and in terrain, amphibious, protected from light infantry weapons and artillery shrapnel, capable of combating in a contaminated atmosphere.

All reconnaissance missions in classical or nuclear environments involving:

- rapid and large-scale movements before engagement

- the necessity of conducting a match fight against an armored opponent

Detailed description of the problem

The AMX-10RC is by its definition of its manufacturer, the French authorities, and the French army a (light) reconnaissance/scouting armored vehicle (in French, the meaning of “reconnaissance” in the military context is “scouting”). See below for 4 official sources on the web.

Despite this, the AMX-10RC is treated in-game as a tank destroyer and does not have the scouting ability, which is a bit ironic.
 

• The website of NEXTER (the manufacturer of the AMX-10RC) describes the AMX-10RC as an “engin de reconnaissance et de combat de contact”, i.e., a “reconnaissance/scouting and close combat vehicle”. http://preprod.nexter-group.fr/fr/produits/item/42-amx-10rc

• On the website of the French senate, the project for the 2003 budget of France lists some vehicles to be replaced/upgraded and describes the AMX-10RC as “engins de reconnaissance très mobiles…”, i.e., “armored reconnaissance/scouting vehicle with very good mobility…” (second paragraph). https://www.senat.fr/rap/a02-071-6/a02-071-618.html

• Finally, the AMX-10RC replaced the EBR (manufactured by Panhard) in the French army in 1980, EBR standing for “Engin Blindé de Reconnaissance”, i.e., “reconnaissance/scouting armored vehicle”.

 

Fix of the problem

Give the scouting ability to the AMX-10RC, which is unambiguously classified as a reconnaissance/scouting vehicle by the French authorities, the French army, and the manufacturer of the AMX-10RC.

For the sake of consistency, the AMX-10RC could be moved to the light/medium tank branch although that would not be strictly necessary if the scouting ability is at least implemented.
