Atlas, we all know release trees mean nothing.

must be just you. the release trees may change a little here and there but, unless the item was a paper project or prototype, if it's on the release tree, it will eventually show up in game.

I'm pretty sure Stug IV will be implemented in the future. Many of ground vehicles and their variations were confirmed in Q/A part of this forum. Just look how many Spitfires Brits have. So expect at least Stug III ausf G. Stug IV and Panzer IV ausf J in the future for sure. ;) Im sure that the future patch will bring some new tanks. ;)

Just a note.

The StuG IV was designed primarily as an infantry support assault gun, not unlike its brother the StuG III.  It was only after the retreat from Kursk in 1943 that Germany transferred both StuG III, and StuG IV brigades into an exclusive tank destroyer role.

Bump.

I don`t know why Stug IV is seen as not important by both WT and WOT. What i have read WOT also took forever to put it in the game and when they finally did it came out as some kind of premium or special vehicle.

After all 1,108 Stug IVs (+31 conversions) were build.

What would be the BR of Stug IV? I think it should be 4.3 the same as Stug G since it doesn`t have so much advantages over it.  Or if they are also going to put the late III G model in game, what would be the BR of that?

I think 4.3 is perfect, it has very few differences compared to a normal Stug III G, but it is more bigger and the hull has not thickest armor than III G version... the same frontal 80 mm and 30 mm on the sides. I think it has no advantages.
I would love to see you soon in game.

1944 Italy, probably near Rome. British troops inspect a lne up of captured German Stug III and IV, 2 Marder III and Italian Semovente 75/18 and 105/25.

I don't understand, why do you people want it so much? It's more or less identical to the Stug III and would have no purpose in-game except for being there for historical reasons.

I wouldn't mind if they made the Stug IV either a premium or an event tank, even though it was mass produced.

That other tanking game went down a similar route, but I've got to hand it to them, they may well have been right with this one. To me adding it in a main tree seems... Regressive. Going III III IV III would seem very odd and I think it'd either do better grouped with one of the Panzer IVs in a folder, or as an event or premium vehicle, though as I am not a big German player, at the end of the day the matter may not affect me until I finish my Brits and return to German tanks.

Currently it would be the only Stug with the superior saukopf gun mantlet. That`s the ultimate StuG that many want.

Whats the reason people make any suggestions? To see vehicles they like in game. Its a bit hard to start defining what purpose means game/tech tree vice?

There`s not much differences between Pz IV H & J in real life when they where both equipped with side skirts. J was actually worse than H  since it did not have the electric turret traverse despite being the latter version. Panzer IV J & Stug IV are still somewhat big part of the german armored forces in WW2.  I personally like the way Stug IV looks.

The best would be Stug G, -> Stug G (skb),-> Stug IV.  Stug G and the saukopf version could be stacked under the same square. Stug IV would have schurzens and saukopf of course. If they are not going to add the late III G (skb) version Stug IV would be even more needed.

For me, thinking gameplay-wise, the Stug IV would have a slightly better survivability chance thanks to the UFP being like the Pz Iv's one i.e. slightly sloped instead of top-flat like the Pz III. This means it might bounce shots like the Pz  IV does (yes it does stop crying about German tanks).

Tell that to the Su85/Su85m, Isu122/Isu122s, T3485/T3485D5t/T34 1941/T34 1942 found in the game...

I would say the StuG III is better protected. The StuG III G has 80mm at 50 or 55º in that area which is quite good (similar to Panther hull). The Panzer IV has 20mm at 72º but it's only 20mm, a lot of shells are going to be 2x bigger and with this the chance to bounce would be much less.

Additional armor mod can save this vehicle.

Additional armor mod can save this vehicle.

As can be seen from pictures Stug IV was used almost always with additional armor. Mostly track links on front hull, lower front hull and sides of the compartment.

Double post because of many pictures.

We could share ideas how to make the Stug IV more different from the III G model and what type of additional armor it could use.

They could use the late Stug IV that was equipped with the late exhaust pipes as a base model in game. Here`s one preserved in Poznan, Poland.

From previous page. Here`s my proposition how additional armor should be used with it: (combined with the schurzens & late exaust pipes.)

Is this "Sturm. IV" the same as the Panzer IV/70A and Jagdpanzer IV already in-game, or something totally original?

Is so, I GiB it :good:+1
