Looking at the British tech tree line I see that there's just one Lancaster with nothing interesting going on. I suggest we dive into the (actual aircraft) Tiger Force section that was compelled I think just before or after V.E. Day to combat the Japanese as the British were free for attacking Japan after Nazi Germany's fall, and upon looking into this section I notice the Tiger Force Avro Lancaster BI (F.E)/BIII A weird looking Lancaster with a white upper paint job (from what I could find it was to repel heat) and the usual lower paint-coating of black. To be fair I think the aircraft looks pretty dam good in that scheme.

Also, along with the cosmetics come some other goodies dotted around the aircraft. Noticeably the H2S radar system occupying the belly section under the mid-upper gunner. That I find would be more cosmetics as there is no use (yet) for radar in game. Secondly, the rear turret has been swapped from the 4x.303 Browning's to 2x.50cals in the form of the Rose Turret. This will give the British Bomber fans something to drool over as the armament is now better at the rear. Additionally, not all but some Tiger force Lancaster's had their mid-upper turret replaced again with the .50cals giving more to the aircraft in the form of defensive arms. Along with better Merlin's and the extra bomb here and there, the aircraft was pretty much same old, same old from the wings forward with only the interesting paint job for a noticeable difference.

I think this (slightly) better Lancaster could be a good follow on from the present Lancaster with the aircraft not focusing on a better bomb-load (of which it already has one) but more on rearward and sideward defensive armament via newly installed .50cals.

Hope you like the idea and pictures below are of the actual aircraft the rear 'Rose turret' and the .50cal carrying mid-upper turret. ;)s

I was just about to make Rose turret suggestion (rose turret as an upgrade for the lancaster we have) but i found this

+1 from, no doubt

real bombload for lancasters would be nice (pic below by LB95)
Byz0CAo.jpg
I think this bombload would be enough :D

pic below is from "Bf 110 vs Lancaster 1942-45" written by Robert Forczyk and published under Osprey

Put Lanc mk 3 at 4.3 BR in tier 3

no, that's too low

5.5 or 5.7 (as early B-17s) would be fine and 6.0 for this lancaster suggested in this thread

IIRC, the B1 lancaster was easily modified and retrofitted with things. The B1 special was what carried the Tallboy and Grand Slam bombs, and I'm fairly sure they could be modified with a turret containing two hispanos in the dorsal area.

I'd link sources, but I don't have time right now, I'll look for them when I get home if needed.

The Lancaster should be on the same level as the first Yer-2, which is a BR of 4.3

Well TBF it could actually be classed as a post war Lancaster seeing that it came in around V.E. day and it was a step-up from the average lanc with better armament. So I wouldn't like to see it get a low BR.

Current Lancaster should have a lower BR and maybe even a lower rank. also Wellington mk3 is useless and should be removed.

In regards tot eh original post here, I would 100% agree with you!  I have been following and commenting on your other thread "What New Heavy Bomber Would You like to See In Game".  I would like to take this opportunity to post something here that I posted in your other thread as it relates to this discussion far more...

"The reason why I also mentioned the upgraded turrets on the Lancaster is that I had two great uncles that flew in Ferry Command one in the RAF and the other in the RCAF.  I have letters that were written back to family talking about their favorite aircraft to fly.  Being in Ferry Command they flew not only Commonwealth aircraft but US too.  Both my great Uncles loved flying the Lancaster they said it was one of their favorites, and they also commented about how once they delivered them almost immediately the squadrons would start upgrading their turrets to either .50 in (12.3mm) or 20mm cannons.  My uncle in the RCAF in particular commented about how versatile the Lancaster was and that almost every squadron he delivered to would start modifying the aircraft right away."

I am Canadian but I have traveled extensively throughout the UK on several different occasions.  One of my missions that I had to accomplish was to see every Imperial War Museum network Museum.  I have completed my mission and then some while I also went to other museums that are not associated with the Imperial War Museum.  When I was up near York in a little village called Yapham there was a preserved heavy bomber base there.  Plus not to far away still in the North of England there was the Base that that Dam Buster flew out of, and there was loads of information in regards tot he Avro Lancaster's!  Now when I was at the base in Yapham there where turrets and other aircraft items that you could see up close.  Plus the staff there employed veterans to be guides in the museum section located in an old mess hall.  The Vet that was there when I was there was a Lancaster top turret gunner (rose turret).  He and I sparked up a great conversation even my grandmother entered into a great conversation with him as she had many relatives who were in the war and many of which who flew in the RCAF and RAF.  The Vet mentioned about how they modded their aircraft heavily once they revived them, and when new problems arose they would mod the aircraft again to meet their needs.  He said his favorite mod for he Lancaster was the 20mm hispano cannon mod, since all he really had to do was get one good hit on target and that was enough to deter your pursuer or down them all together.  He went on to mention that in the beginning they did use the 12.3mm mod in the top and tail gunner positions, but once more 20mm cannons became available they were quickly adopted for the aircraft.

I had to take this opportunity to reply with this picture from Classics Wings Magazine.  It is an RCAF Lancaster Mk III, and if you look closely you can see that the top turret is .50 cal or 12.3mm turret.  Please oh PLEASE Gajin add the appropriate turret mods to the Lancaster!
