Maxime's Camo Tutorials & Skins

Hey there fellow War Thunderers!

On this thread I will post a tutorial on how I make my tank camos and links to my current camos.

Tutorial:

[spoiler]Program:

This will be a tutorial for Photoshop users mainly because as a photographer I find photoshop's interface and tools much more intuitive than Gimp.

Also, this tutorial will be done in Photoshop CS4.

Tutorial:

Before you can make your custom tank camo you must create a sample for the tank which you wish to skin, this is how: Select your tank/go to customization/go to 'create sample'/ and then click okay

Now that you have a sample for your tank go find the folder which it is saved: Go to your War Thunder game folder and open "User Skins"

Now open your skin sample in Photoshop, you should have an image 128x128 in dimensions. Now double click the Background layer and click okay. Then I fill the layer (Shift+f5 to fill) with a solid color depending on the theme I am going by:

For this tutorial I will be using the Forest color scheme.

Now go to Filter/Artistic/Sponge. Play around with the sponge filter but for an example I used these settings:

Brush Size: 10

Definition: 12

Smoothness: 11

I think the sponge filter alone looks a little plane, so I will now go to Filter/Artistic/Poster Edges. You can play around with the poster edges filter but for this tutorial I am going to use these settings:

Edge Thickness: 10

Edge Intensity: 0

Posterization: 0

Now create a new layer and fill it (Shift+f5) with the Forest color scheme.

Then go to Filter/Artistic/Sponge and again you can play around with the sponge filter settings but I normally use:

Brush Size: 10

Definition: 12

Smoothness: 15

Then set the layer's blending mode to 'Lighten'. This fills in those black patches on the first layer.

For the finishing touches I usually create a "curves" adjustment layer and mess around with it until I get a darker skin:

Congratz! You have finished the tutorial!   :good:

Check out this B25J-1 skin! http://live.warthunder.com/post/11589/

The guy who made this skin suffers from color deficiency so he uses software to help him get the colors right.
