  1. 1. He-162 A-1 (Separate Aircraft) or He-162 A-2 (Ingame) with 30mm Mk.108 Cannon upgrade?

    • He-162 A-1 as a separate aircraft.

    • He-162 A-2 with Mk.108 30mm cannon upgrade.

The He-162 A-1 was a version of the He-162 that came with x2 30mm Mk.108 cannons. Basically an He-162 A-2 with 30mm's as far as I know.

Opinions:

Personally, I would rather have an He-162 A-2 with an upgrade, it'd be much easier to work out I think. What do you guy think?

I am not sure about this information, I got it from this site : http://casmuseum.techno-science.ca/en/collection-research/artifact-heinkel-he162A-1-volksjager.php

Please review this and think about introducing one of these.

Good idea and I think the "30mm cannon upgrade" would be preferable. Is there any info on how many rounds of ammunition it would carry?

Edit: Apparently it's 50 rounds per gun.

If I recall correctly, the recoil from the Mk 108s was too much for the volksjäger to handle and they decided to produce the MG 151 armed A-2s instead. ( Wouldn´t mind being proved wrong here)

I would love to see this ingame though.

I kinda want it to be its own aircraft just for the sake of variety, but then again, the 30mm only hold 100 rounds altogether (what fors said), then for the sake of efficiency, and not taking up all the German jet slots (I think every nation gets a limited amount of jets) it should be a modification. Definitely think this should be in game though.

Don't see the need for a different plane, but if what TheFors is correct (and it's very plausible) then we can't have it...simple imo.

Really?  Lots of other planes stressed the airframe heavily, even fatally, when firing their big guns but just don't have it modelled in-game.

I'm well aware of that, but I'm not ok with that either. If a plane self-destructs itself while firing it shouldn't be in game...or it should be modelled that way.

It shouldn't be, but it's already in for some nations and isn't going to get removed; that being the case, you've just got to apply the same standard across the nations.

He-162 Is one of my favorite little jets, hope that eventually we get more variants of it.

I agree with the others, the 30mm Mk.108 did heavily stress the airframe but I doubt it was to such an extent as if it spontaneously exploded the entire thing.

You can't use that argument on this plane when you have the Yak9K which has the same problem but to a greater extent in the normal tree, when it simply was solved by not modeling the self-destructive part of it.

The He 162 is the jet fighter that is probably the worst equipped to deal with heavy bombers yet it also is set up to be one of the jets that sees heavy bombers the most.

Therefore, I'm absolutely for providing the 30mms as a secondary armament option, or at least as a different plane.

Speaking of He 162 variants, the He 162E also existed. It had one of the Me 262 C-2b's combined rocket/jet engines. According to a few different sites I've checked apparently one was even built and flown.

This is why it should be the A-3 variant and not the A-1 variant:

I think it should be a separate plane. Why? Very simple: the BR is calculated not with the default weapons, but with the maxed out and optional ones. That's why the G-2 is at BR 4.7 (arcade) despite having only one 20mm cannon by default, and the FW190A-5/U2 at 5.7, with the modification adding 4 more cannons, but you fight in the upper tiers with not just a slower plane, but with a lot less firepower until you unlock it. Just think of the grind in tier 5 to get to the 30mm guns. If the He-162 gets the 30mm modification, expect it to be in the 8.0 range or so.

Its BR would not get raised just because of a 30mm upgrade, especially 8.0. The Me-262A-1 has FOUR 30mm and its only 7.7.

It's only got a paltry of ammo for it's 30mm cannons.  Ta-152 has about 90 shells for one cannon IIRC, and that one runs out in a heartbeat, so I don't even want to know the endurance on 2 Mk.108s with 50RPG.

Yes more of the He-162s as they were planing to make more advanced models of the He-162 such as a He-162 B and the He-162 C

unless you want Germany's only reasonably tiered jet to fight sabres I would suggest it be two different aircraft.

Even the He 162 isn't that reasonably tiered. I'd put it at 6.7 personally. Fighting a Vampire in one is tough, but fighting a La-174 is nearly impossible.
